Forums - Politics Discussion - Obama proposes $4.1 trillion U.S. budget, including a $10-per-barrel fee on oil to fund clean-energy transportation

This is why he will go down as the worst
President so far. Says stuff in his State of the Union address taking credit for low gas prices when we all known OPEC controls the pricing then turns around and adds 10 dollar a barrel fee basically a high federal tax on gas. SMH

I can't express how much I'm looking forward to helping pay back all this national debt at some point in my life.

So when can I expect to be taxed for carbon or is that already a thing?

I'm ok with the $10 barrel tax on oil. Just leave ethanol alone, need to get some kinda return on my investment.

I can think of far worse presidents than Obama specifically the one that came before him.  What did you expect him to do wave a magic wand and see the economy grow while balancing the budget after one of the worst crashes?

Anyways, the Republicans will just ignore his budget and take till the last moment to pass a budget.  I say we cut military spending and crack down on the waste in the Pentagon.  There is so much waste in Afghanistan and Iraq through private contractors it is ridiculous.  You know they spent $80 million or so on one shitty natural gas station in Afghanistan (some of that money was used to convert some vehicles to NG just so there would be a point to the station which in the end there really wasn't a point)?  Or that they spent 400+ million on shitty Italian transport planes that fell apart in flight and weren't made for desert conditions which were eventually grounded and scrapped for 20 thousand or so...  So much waste in the military budget.  Sad part is that Republicans always want to increase the military budget instead of making it more efficient/cutting out waste.

This thread is already hilarious. Keep it going.

Don't worry, that won't happen. The US will default sooner or later. Not that that will be very enjoyable though...

To the people hating on Obama you do realise bush created the cluster fuck he's trying to resolve and if another bush like republican held the past 2 terms your country would be way worse off. Such short sightedness.

Hopefully pretty soon

Likely not soon, because a lot of the American population, and not to mention American corporations would rather continue to ruin the climate :-/

so hes taking advantage of the cheaper oil prices by taxing gasoline, so the Money goes to the government pockets instead the consumers? if i am reading correct
