Forums - Gaming Discussion - Trophies are a pointless waste of ones time and money and used to sell crappy games.

I hunt trophies...

For the plats. 20 12.50%

For the PSN level. 16 10.00%

To extend the life of a game I love. 75 46.88%

To make dull games more interesting. 6 3.75%

I have terrible OCD. 17 10.63%

All of the above. 26 16.25%

Total:160

I'll clean up trophies after I play through a game, and go for the platinum if I like the game and it's not hard or too time consuming (quite rare, look in my sig)

I would call myself a trophy collector. It's satisfying when they pop. But I don't give a damn about hi scores, collectibles, character costumes.

It's another reason why I buy all multiplats on PS4, my trophy score is much better than my gamerscore.

PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One

I always found it weird when I go on reddit or forums and people say "Eh, bad game but easy platinum."

Why would you waste your time on a game you don't even like?

I like trophies because I'm able to keep track of how many games I've owned/played and which ones I've (apparently) enjoyed the most. I don't buy games for trophies, nor I go out of my way to collect them, unless I truly liked the game and want to have that artificial 100% satisfaction or it comes naturally with it.

trophies are good. They are a good indicator of completing a game, and because of that you will see a lot of 100% completion guides unlike with a lot of older titles

Trophy hunting doesn't equate to spending 5-6 hours or more a day to get trophies you know.

If I didn't like this game zo much, I never would have bothered. But seeing the girls get pissed (and Barret yelling at you & assuming you're with him and not one of the girls because you have your eyes on Marlene) was pretty damn funny.

Imagine the Remake and that entire scene. Something tells me it won't be the same (or if it's in it at all, infinitely more hilariously funny).

Yes they are a pointless waste of time. What was once in game extras and ended up as unlockables is now just trophies and you get nothing but your own self satisfaction that you did it. Some are completely new things to do, sure but some are added purely to make people do more in the game instead of making them want to play the game fully to begin with. I mean leveling all 6 classes in Diablo to 70? That's just time consuming because reasons.

Hmm, pie.

When I play WRPGs, I usually go for the same class every time and I would have no reason to choose another one, so that would add quite a lot of new gaming experiences. Obviously 70 is a bit overkill, but as an idea it's great.

I never saw trophies as a huge selling factor for a game.

They're cool, and I might try to hunt down some, but they're not timesinks that automatically make me invest so much time on one single game.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I rarely try to 100% a game, seems pointless and too time consuming most of the time. Honestly you probably have too much time on your hands if getting every trophy/achievement is a thing for you.
