Forums - Gaming Discussion - Trophies are a pointless waste of ones time and money and used to sell crappy games.

I hunt trophies...

For the plats. 20 12.50%

For the PSN level. 16 10.00%

To extend the life of a game I love. 75 46.88%

To make dull games more interesting. 6 3.75%

I have terrible OCD. 17 10.63%

All of the above. 26 16.25%

Total:160

I only do it if I really like the game and think its obtainable

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

I only play the games I enjoy playing and I enjoy getting the platinum because it's a good challenge.

I just went back to Diablo 3 because I was only one trophy short of platinum and I needed 500,000 gold to get it. It translates into maybe 6-8 hours of grinding. Next in line is the Reaper of Souls on the PS4. The grind trophy there is "500 bounties". That should be 150 hours at least. But I have time to spare between now and April when Dark Souls 3 is released - I have all the Souls-borne platinums: DeS, DkS1, DkS2, DkS2 SotFS and Bloodborne. Funny thing is that I didn't stop playing them after I got the plats. Diablo 3 though... not likely to ever play it again once I get the last trophy but that's because the Reaper edition is so much better.

I only achievement/trophy hunt if I like the game a lot or if I'm only missing 2 or 3 things naturally because at that point I'm like "Why the hell not?" lol.

I don't really make time anymore. I just play when I can, have the urge, or just do an hour or 2 a day, trying to clear as much as I can, or I just stop playing PS3 games for a good while...

I have done it, but I no longer feel the same way I use to about them because I realize now that they're a bandaid created by the industry to hide the fact that games are too easy now. They're an artificial goal added to the game for the sake of extending the life of said game.

When I play a modern game now, I beat it and whatever trophies or achievements I unlock along the way are the trophies and achievements I unlock.

Well... You keep playing the same game until you do it. Even if you have more unplayed games than the played ones, like me.

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

I don't give a flying cat about trophies but if I'm playing a game I really like, I do like getting all the secrets and hidden items and such. That's because I'm enjoying extending the game, though, not because of any outside validation.

Well, currently playing FF7 HD and was on track for the plat (if I do another 100% playthrough), until I realized going on the Gold Saucer date with Barret is needed, and I as usual got my waifu Tifa instead at 30 hours & level 50. So...out of curiosity, I started a new game with the Barret date being the goal, put on all the cheatsy HD options (3x speed, infinite Limit meter, no random encounters)...and got it after 3 hours & level 15.

If I didn't like this game zo much, I never would have bothered. But seeing the girls get pissed (and Barret yelling at you & assuming you're with him and not one of the girls because you have your eyes on Marlene) was pretty damn funny.

Nope. As you can see in my sig, I rather spend my time playing many games versus doing everything in a few games.

I don't hunt for trophies or achievements. Once I beat a game I usually move on to the next, unless it's a game I really enjoyed I'll replay campaign or co-op it or I hope on multiplayer. There are too many games out there for me to replay a game just because it has trophies/achievements. I don't have the time anymore.
