Realistically Darth Maul would win. He's shown to be a powerful and agile force user. He was able to take on 2 Jedi fairly well too and was better trained*

*If we're going by Darth Vader as of the OT he's out of practice and is limited in movement due to his suit

Maul is pretty badass, my vote goes to him.

Maul would probably win a fight, but Vader is much more iconic tho.

Anyway, I'll go with Maul!

Darth Maul by far!

Darth Maul is too skilled fighting style with staff lightsaber and he does badass acrobatic, while Darth Vader's speech & Force Powers skill are epic!

I think its Vader.

According to Star Wars lore he is meant to be the penultimate force user - at least if you equate being the chosen one with being all-powerful.

Someone else raised the notion of Vader having beaten Obi-Wan, where Maul could not.

I think I'll go with Darth Vader. Why? Well he was one of the greatest after all. Darth Maul seemed to die to easy (such a shame) when he fought Obi Wan back then. Going by the prompts:

1. Force Powers- Neither used Force lightening or mind tricks really. But Vader was a fan of Force choking while Maul didn't really use Force powers at all, he just fought.

2. Weapons- While a double sided lightsaber is cool as all hell, it did nada for Maul during his climatic battle. Vader was still proficient in using his basic lightsaber even after all that happened.

3. Abilities- Not sure what to say here but I will say that Vader, other than being a well trained Sith Lord like Maul is, was a military leader through and through. He commanded armies both before and after the fall of the Republic was a feared figure everywhere he went. Maul doesn't have much to back him up beyond being a Sith Lord.

4. Dogs- Maul strikes me as an animal lover so I'll give him this category.

Vader would probably win. Heck, even devidem01 would win against Maul..

Vadar was the most powerful Jedi ever. Maul got his ass torn apart in only one movies time. Vadar ftw... and it's not even close.

Only reason people aren't picking Vader is because they just judge on the original trilogy choreography, in which case Luke Skywalker would get destroyed by anyone from the prequel trilogy too. It's just because they're older movies with slower paced fights.

Character wise Vader is meant to be much more powerful than Maul.
