Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fire Emblem Fates will have English voice only

I hope they have the option to download the japanese Voice acting and songs in Europe (but I wouldn't count on it).
I think english dubs are often of poor quality, with voice acting that isn't believable. The japanese voice acting is most of the time superior, and eventhough I hardly understand a word that is being said, I can read the subtitles and still catch the emotions from the voices.

Also I really hate the english version of the main theme song. While the japanese version (that I like) sounds soft, the english version sounds screechy.

Well, I wanted to buy the Conquest version of the game, but I think I'll pass.

Awakening was bad enough and the original VA was the only okay thing about it, if they manage to make Fates even worse on some points like that, I can't support the decisions about Fire Emblem anymore. Each news about this game makes Nintendo looks worse and worse...

If I want to play a SRPG, I'll play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, I won't get japanese VA either but at least I'll get some strategy in 2 great games.

There's just so many little things about this game that irritate me from the localization, lack of dual audio, bad english dub, cut content and the splitting of the game up that it just dissuades me from wanting to buy it.  That's my personal opinion though.

I can live with Nintendo cutting out the rubbing mini game or the gay tricking magic potion, they aren't things I was looking forward to.

I also look at the release of Fire Emblem Fates as getting 3 Fire Emblem games for ~80€ at once instead of one, so I'm ok with it being split up.

But not having the option to select the japanese or english dub really bugs me. English dubs of cartoons, anime or games often tend to be my least favorite option.

Sorry, but what you said here is really stupid.

PPl want the japanese voices because it's the original, which are 90% of time much better than Us voices in jap games.

(and they were here in awakening)

Same for Us games, if you couldn't get the original Us voices, it would annoy a lot of people too.

You can always just get the Japanese version. That way you don't just get to hear the voices in superior Japanese, but READ the text in superior Japanese as well!

Well no, i can't. Because the 3ds is region-locked.

Nice try.

I lIke hearing them talk, not having to read. I'm fine with this.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

I think the real problem starts the moment they release as 2 separate versions plus a third one as DLC.

Day one DLC and two versions? Completely bad on Nintendo's part and should be very heavily criticized for this. No Japanese voice acting doesn't even seem like a valid complaint. That's a bonus feature if anything. Do the Japanese get English voice acting? IS anyone in the US complaining they won't get French voice acting? The dialouge thing you're referring to is what I'm assuming to be the whole alleged gay conversion controversy? That issue was taken out of context and proportion since it was in Japan to the point Nintendo felt the need to very clearly write it in a way that misconceptions were avoided. The face-touching thing I literally do not want to touch because if that is a point of contention for anyone getting this game, then you literally must have either never played a FE game before or have huge misconception of what goes on because that was never in the series before and literally doesn't affect the game. That is a very shallow complaint.

I know most of these are small, even shallow complains, but when they start to build up, it makes the game look bad. This game appears more on the media more times for bad news than for good news, and that gives this game a bad image, when it probably is one of the best FE games (obviously haven't played it yet).

Also, when you take away one feature that was on the previous game, you can't really avoid criticism by saying that that was a bonus feature to begin with.

I will say this, that is  a very strong point about the build up of little things. I can't argue that because you're right. The culmination of everything will cost Nintendo.

However, the dual audio thing is in fact bonus content. I don't remember pre-Awakening FE games having it. It wasn't declared as a standard ongoing either. I could be wrong in either case, so please tell me if I am. However, it is definitely not industry standard. I definitely don't recall P4Golden, SMT: DS2Record Breaker or many other JRPGS or Japanese games in general having it. Its generally just not easy. XCX on the other hand was a much more understandable argument because I know the original had it. Unlike this game I implored people who had a problem with it to voice their opinion to Nintendo. I think I did in a thread here too. But here's the other side of it. The localized versions came with the DLC free from the start. If next time, it doesn't is that no longer bonus content because it came in XCX? Sure, if people want Japanese VA, fine that's fair in wanting it, but to claim its cut content feel very disingenuous

Actually nothing I have said here is stupid, nor has anything you said highlighted how its stupid. Did I say no one wants Japanese VA? No. What you have here is different opinion than yours with different reasons, but enough about that. I'm quite aware FE:A has dual audio. How many FE games have it? How many Japanese ported games in general have it?

I heard somewhere it was because the Japanese version had a licensed song or something Nintendo would have to pay for or something. I'll check up on that much much later if anything because I don't feel like it now.

I worry somehow people will go on a "cut content" rampage.

On gosh. Nintendo would have had to pay for something. The horror. Good thing we get games for free

I like you already. Sarcasm seems like a really difficult thing to both understand or get across, but you, you have a talent.

Unfortunately as I had implied, I'm not sure of the detaills and since looking into it, have not found anything concrete from any sources. Though it seems to be the case that there are higher tier VA's or agencies in this game and licensing issues stem from that to the ppoint they may not be even be able to get it. I guess I could delve deeper into to find out myself, but I have things to do and don't work in the media or even as a blog.

Dont Worry! I bet Most of the ones complaining will still buy the game. Its like they forget about the new features/gameplay Nintendo has added into Fates. And the story is looking soooo much better than Awakening. And besides, this could be the last FE game on the 3DS. The next one could be on whatever the NX is. Which is more reason for fans to buy the game!

I'm not exactly defending this game. I don't care if people don't buy the game for one reason or another. I'm only get bothered by the validity of those reasons. Like I said, the Day one DLC and seperate versions are a frustrating and valid issue. Things like face-caressing is so incondsequential its befuddling. Maybe I was too quick to go on to say its invalid to complain about duo audio, I didn't even mean it like that, I just meant the accusation its cut content, but it shouldn't be a deterrent to actually play the game you wanted to play

That was exhausting.

It would be a bigger issue if the game had only Japanese voice acting.

Every 3 seconds "onii-chan" "onee-chan".
