Forums - Gaming Discussion - Have you ever wanted a game to suck? Why?

I'm thinking back to when Bloodborne was first announced.  There was a picture of a spider or a scorpion or something.  People were like "Oooooh, shit! That one picture just won E3!!" Or something to that effect.  I kept thinking, "Just wait, d21lewis. The game will suck and you'll have your day."

Well, the game didn't suck. People loved it. It made a lot of money and even won a lot of awards.  Thinking back, I'm not even sure why I wanted it to fail. I wouldn't have gained anything and people would have missed out on something that they enjoyed.

So that's my story. Anybody else willing to admit that they wanted a game to suck?

Can't say that I have.

The only game I can think of that I would ever want to suck if it ever gets released would be a direct sequel to Shovel Knight.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

No, not really. I usually hope that every game turns out to be at least good, but obviously that's not realistic.

Probably, though I can't think of any specific examples. If I don't like the person or company behind a game (either based on character, politics, or business practices), then I'll silently hope it'll bomb.

Federation Force when it was first revealed, after a while I realized the game is going to suck regardless so I started wishing for other stuff

I don't know.

To justify not buying it or something.

The only games I really want to suck are sequels to singleplayer games that for some reason are made MMORPGs.

Probably. I really dislike some series and wish people would lose interest in them so trends would have a chance to change closer to my liking. Obviously if a game sucks, people are less likely to be interested in it.

Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival.....and it did!

Quite the opposite. There are a lot of crappy games that I wish were good.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
