I actually don't like this. Eventually those games will start running like shit and they'll say: well, choose framerate, and the game will look like 7th gen.

Consoles have fixed amounts of power, once they try too much on something something else will be compromissed, that's how it is and how opmization is born making those things run games well above what could once be done with that amount of power, it this start getting common you can be sure it'll means an overall quality drop, as we can't take a part of the console and trade for a better one to make up for it like on PCs.

I agree. Big publishers always take ideas to the point where they become an overa detriment to the imdustry.

I still want to know how big of a difference it's going to be. It won't make much difference if it's just 1 frame. If there is a significant improvement, Frame rate over graphics.

What it would mean for the PS4 version which is already locked at 30fps?

Are they going to let us uncap the framerate?

I just wanted to turn off DOF, motion blur & lighting on console....

Good. I will take better frame rate every day of the week. If I want the best graphics I'll play on PC.

Great idea!

Awesome. More options are always good.

That's a fallacy, this option could be good, but it sets a dangerous prescedent.

Agreed.

PC gaming has had these graphic settings for like 20 years and it still exists perfectly fine and sees plenty of innovation (more than consoles imho). It's not like they're saying "hey leave this switch off and you get the full game but the frame rate might dip. turn it on and you get a silky smooth frame rate but you don't get the Dark Zone!". It's purely a visual trade off. I'd rather them strive to include advanced visual techniques but still give us the option to disable them. It's not their fault this gen of consoles is very weak.
