Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How would you do amiibo?

I wouldn't!

But if I had to, simply make amiibo content accessible through other means, either as normal dlc or within the game like Mario Maker does. No need to force people to pay minimum $13 for content that isn't worth nearly that much.

I would put very lame content that nobody would be missing if didnt existed, mostly fanservice and little gimicks you cannot do without amiibo so I can give 40 years old men an excuse to buy them even if they only really want them because they love the toy. Oh wait. Thats exactly what they are doing, nevermind.

Are we really assuming that a majority of amiibo owners (of the 30 million that have been sold) are 40 year olds? Makes me kinda wish that Nintendo gave some demographic data besides regions. If they mentioned that a majority of Japanese Animal Crossing fans are female, they could at least give who bought majority of the amiibos..

I should have said "even 40 years old" instead. That's what I meant.

Exactly what they're doing. Little figures with an extra bonus: little and not meaningful content. I'd do also an Amiibo based game.

Typical Nintendo saying one thing and doing something that screams a other thing. They are clearly releasing amiibos as a collector's item. Why would do make a 30th anniversary classic AND retro Mario that are basicaly the same thing? Why make a Silver and Gold Mario that is exactly like the smash or mario party mario? Why make a mario line that has Mario/Peach/DK/Bowser/Yoshi when these characters already have amiibos that do the exact same thing?

Every amiibos should be usefull. Make a new Punch Out game? Make it work with LilMac, NOT a brand new Lilmac amiibo but the smash one. So many amiibos are virtualy useless outside of Smash. When am I going to use my LilMac?... Bayonetta? Sure I'll grab it as a collector. Am I counting on ever using it? Hell no! Unless they make a Bayonetta 3, but even then I bet they will pull a other ''wolf Link'' out of their hat and make a new Bayonetta with the new Bayonetta3 hairstyle. Hell, if Shulk never got any usage in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you bet aside from a collecter's point of view, he will forever be useless.

That whole Animal Crossing line purely exist to make cheap money. If you are buying those expecting them to ever be usefull, I pity you. Don't get me wrong, if you are buying them as a collector, I get that. But if you really see them as figurines that will ever be used outside that disgracefull Amiibo Festival, you are dead wrong. You will buy them and NEVER use them. MAYBE if a proper animal crossing game for NX comes out, but other than that, their is no way a Lottie amiibo can ever be proven usefull, so why does it even exist? Why are they releasing more of these when they can only be used on a flopped game? The reason is collector's money.

Their is a trend that I'm fearing is coming. They keep releasing new amiibos when past amiibos could do the same exact job. I have a Link, Toon Link, Ganondorf, Zelda and Sheik amiibo. Why could'nt they make that new TP dongeon a feature for my Link amiibo that is collecting dust instead of selling me a new one? Would of made me feel smart for buying it back then...

Now their is a rumor of Nintendo making a new Arwing or Walker amiibo for Star Fox Zero... Because my Fox and Falco amiibo are soo overused, right? Why not give a fonction to these already purchased amiibo so they don't feel useless instead of giving us more new crap to collect to then never use again?

I know that is just a rumor, but that was what they basicaly did for TPHD, so I would'nt be surprised if that is true. Also would'nt be surprise if Zelda WiiU comes with yet a other amiibo. The old Smash ones will give you useless shits like arrows, the Wolf Link would be used to transfer over some save data from TP and the new ZeldaWiiU amiibo will be where the cool things are at.

Basicaly, if you want to make ppl feel like these amiibos are worth the money gameplay wise, give EVERY future game related to a already existing amiibo a good feature. That way, if you buy amiibo from a franchise, you feel like you are investing for every future game from that franchise. But it should'nt be to big. Something cosmetic or a extra small mission or a extra item. Fox and Falco should have main features in the new Star Fox game and not a new amiibo. Give the next pokémon game amiibo feature for Pikachu and other smash amiibos, don't release a new version of these in a Pokémon amiibo line. Next Metroid game should allow us to use Zero Suit Samus to let us play with her zero suit costume that would be purely cosmetic, let armored Samus be used to unlock a different costume (retro costume maybe), DON'T release a new amiibo like Samus with a new suit from that new game. We already purchased Samus, we don't need a other one.

That is what is so frustrating and confusing. So many characters have so many amiibos it's stupid. We have Smash Mario, Mario Party Mario, Silver Mario, Gold Mario, 30th anniversary classic Mario, 30th anniversary modern Mario. CLEARLY a cheap cash grab. They all have no reasons to exist. They should only and forever be ONE Mario amiibo that you get to use on your Mario games. Like other toys to life brands, Alladin IS Alladin and Hulk IS Hulk, their is no other version of these characters with different suits or poses just to make cheap $.

I would have just released them as is.... minus any NFC attached. The majority of people buy them as just collectibles. No one really cares about the extras inside of them. It wouldn't be getting any flack at all if they just made them as such.

Basically this

People can't complain they are DLC because they are not.. and for the same price :p

Your sugestion to keep all amiibo series equivalent is similar to my colour classes one. But what you say doesn't promote the multi-game compatibility, it just keeps each amiibo series compatible with each game series.

How is that bad? You want to please the consumer, and make profits. Not piss people off, and gouge in certain areas only. The goals to make money. In no way these sugestions inhibits that. Unless you want to be greedy, or something. Who cares if the amiibo's sell a little bit less, then what it is doing now. The money is gotten from the other options people can choose from. So you won't be losing money. Then on top of it, you have happy people. Selling DLC that's done better than other companies. Nintendo's god rating increases. And the bonus of people buying multiple figures. Making you even more freaking money.

It's not bad, just keeps the fan of series together with their amiibos, but it doesn't promote extending to other series. I think that was initially part of the amiibo incentive, multi-game compatibility as a way for customers to branch out. My suggestion of 4 amiibo unlocking every possible thing is just as similar as your golden Mario amiibo, plus colours make it fun

c) How about we make it like the good old days where you could unlock things by playing the game further and accomplishing tough tasks in the game! Remember those days, guys?

Lego Dimensions does that. You can hire extra figurines for a set quantity of ingame currency.

GREAT POINTS METRIUM.

Although Nintendo does think amiibo are useful:
