This. Cod 4 is king.  You just had to play this back in 2007 to understand.  A single player campaign hadn't come close since and the only as Carl says,  iconic.  I still play cod4 online on ps3 to this day.  

 

You can argue an earlier cod on pc because they featured similar gameplay and maps (many cod4 maps were remastered)  but I'd still go with cod4.

CoD4 might not be ad groundbreaking as it was in 2007, but it's still hands down the best CoD game.

COD4 was the epitome of innovation and creativity in a stagnant fps market.  My favourite of the bunch with the other Infinity Ward COD's following suit.  Any COD produced by Treyarch is pretty much garbage and was sold or traded in within weeks of purchase.

The only ones I've actually played extensively are World at War, MW2, and BO1. My favorite out of the those three is MW2.
