Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo deserves more respect from you people (wolf link amiibo drama)

Hey guys, havent been posting as much as I would like to, but I've been keeping tabs on all the topics that have been discussed the past week, and I must say.. there really hasn't been a lot going on.

So let me just take this opportunity to bring up a polarizing topic and that is the zelda amiibo wolf link dungeon accessing thing.

For some reason, there is a giant split over this topic, and I just want to try to put this in perspective for all of you.

While you guys complain that this awesome statue that nintendo gives you for free just for purchasing the game unlocks a dungeon, there are companies that are selling you unfinished products just because they want to hit the holiday deadline. Meanwhile, there are companies that take out local multiplayer FOR NO FUCKING REASON. The actual reason could be anyone's guess, but I suspect that they just want to keep more people interacting online instead of in person because they can have more control of your product and it's easier to gouge more money out of you when it is tied to the Internet. Really though guys, this lack of local multiplayer is fucking pointless and you want to complain about nintendo giving you a free statue that unlocks content in the game? You must not play any games whatsoever if you have this position because every other company tries to rip you off the second they get the opportunity, and you're going to bitch at NINTENDO of all companies?? You guys should be thanking nintendo for always hooking you up with awesome shit and not trying to come up with bullshit excuses of why they can't let you play with your friends on the same console.

If you guys are so bothered by this, you still have time to preorder the bundle.. it's 60 dollars just like every other game. And you know what? You can resell your amiibo if you don't decide that you don't want it anymore. Ever heard of being able to sell your dlc? Its almost as if.. it's better than what other companies offer.. it's almost as if.. you get more value for the money you're spending.

derp

Look at it this way, if you buy the bundle and don't want it in a couple months, or even a year, you can resell it and get almost all your fuckin money back. What other game can you buy for 60 dollars, spend money on dlc, and then get nearly all of the money you spent back in a year? In this case, you aren't even spending more than 60 dollars, but you get the point. You guys are calling it dlc, but the point is that it has inherent value to it whereas traditional dlc doesn't AND YOU STILL COMPLAIN ABOUT IT

why?

I agree that they deserve much more respect but I disagree when it comes to anything Amiibo. Nintendo just needs to do what they do best and that's making great games that are top of the line tested, 100% complete on disk and great quality... no gimmicks, no bullshit. Leave the DLC toys behind.

I just wish the dlc wasn't tied to an amiibo. I wouldn't mind paying a few dollar to unlock a savage labrynth. Instead I have to pay $10 for a toy figurine I don't want. I rather these dlc toys affect sklyander and infinity games and not other games that dont depend on them like an epic single player game like the Zelda series. Maybe you can see why people who really don't like to collect toys are annoyed that dlc are only tied to them?

I see where you're coming from, but if Nintendo actually used the amiibos in interesting and compelling ways, I believe your opinion on them would be different. I wish they were more creative with it, but as it is now, it's still way better than traditional dlc. I personally like the statues though. Even if they didn't do anything, I would still collect them.

Oh dear, this is not going to end well... (Grabs Popcorn)

The game comes in a collectible box bundled with the figure already. you're paying the average price for a new game and your purchase isn't going to depreciate in value whereas with other companies, they try to gouge as much money from you as possible and at the end of it, you're left with nothing. If you don't want the game anymore, the value had plummeted to 2 or 3 dollars. With this, you can get your full 60 back easily. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it actually increases in value.

I dont resell games though, especially Nintendo made Zelda games . And this game is 50$ just like the Windwaker HD was. This also isnt a new game even though its a remake of a 10 year old game.

Do you agree its annoying for people who dislike buying toys that they are force to pay a $10 Amiibo to access a mini dungeon dlc that could be sold less as a digital dlc?

The amiibo is not free though. ..... its a $50 game. Look at the other remaster on wii u. All $50. Even the digital version is $50. So no, nintendo is not out of the goodness of there hearts giving you a free amiibo.

What they are actually doing is forcing you to pay more for the game, since they are not offering a stand alone version.

If they were charging 70 dollars for the game, I'd say you have a point. But they're not. It's 60.

Oh believe me, I don't resell my games either, especially my nintendo ones, so I'm right there with you. If this is the case, then I don't see why you would be stoked to get a zelda game in that comes in an awesome box. Keep the figure in the box with it. It's not like you have to keep it out or leave it somewhere. The package it comes with is cool, especially if you're a big zelda fan.

I can see how it can be annoying if you're set in your ways about stuff but maybe try to be open minded about it. You might actually end up liking this package more than you think if you open up to the idea a little more.

Amiibo locked content sucks period.

This specifically screws people who want to buy the game digitally but wont be able to get that one feature cause the only way is through the amiibo which cant be purchased separately (from the info I read at least).

They should have at least given the option to buy the amiibo separately or sell the extra feature as DLC on the eshop for a low price.

Using the resell argument is old and petty too because not everyone re-sells games specifically if you are a collector.

If you're a collector then this deal is great for you. You get a cool bundle that is going to be worth a lot of money for 60 dollars. Collectors are loving this offer by nintendo.
