I hope it's just the game being more popular than expected, and not a very low initial print.

No, its a very low initial print.

Guys its kinda obvious that SE was being iffy about a western release. It took a looong time for this game to be announced for the west, Nearly a year after Jpn announcement. That aloooot for an FF game.

They are really scared of the handheld market on the west, and I don't know why. They did the same with Bravely Default, they were constantly worried that it would sell bad, and it did great.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

That's good to hear, didn't think this game would do very well

Doesn't necessarily mean great sales, it could just mean a ridiculously low shortage of copies.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Yeah, it's really annoying to watch.  It's a self fulfilling prophecy.  They say handhelds in the West are rapidly dying.  And so they don't put games on the platform because the platform is rapidly dying.  Which is why the platform struggles of maintain.  Which results in them further proclaiming the platform is rapidly dying.  It's the turn based combat decline bollocks all over again.  The industry just up and decided something was changing/dead and thus pretended it was so and thus have helped make it so.  Not saying handhelds aren't smaller than the seventh gen, but anyone with eyes and half a brain can see the seventh gen was a massive anomoly on all fronts.  But I am saying that the presumption handhelds are dead and the acting upon that presumption is a large contributor to the problem.

It's performing better than Square expects. (They're the ones publishing it, hence the low stock) because guess what Square!!! You have fans on Nintendo consoles! SURPRISE

You could argue that they didn't ship enough copies and it is out of stock or they shipped a lot and sold them all. This could go either way.

I also think that due to the reviews which is okay-ish not great, they printed less in copies in the west? SE should provide free DLC who got the game on its first week. :)

I keep mixing this one up with World of Final Fantasy. That one looks awesome.
I guess because both feature a mix of Final Fantasy characters.

-snip-

I will look more into Explorers later. Got a few rpgs line up to play next.

The fact that 3 FFVII characters and 2 FFX characters are included here, and there is no Zidane from FFIX, really grinds my gears.
