You begin the game proper once you've beaten Father Gascoigne. The area you are currently playing in is less than an 8th of the entire game. I would advise you to buy the Old Hunters expansion NOW so you can experience the whole game in one. This game is HUGE.

Actually I beat the guy with the axe on level 1! ;)  I beat the Blood-starved Beast (my third boss), but I'm kinda stuck...

You need to buy the chief hunter emblem for 10k blood echoes in the messenger shop in order to open the gate that leads to Vicar Amelia

Yep, I managed to do it in the end. It's that I didn't want to spend so many blood echoes :P I killed Amelia and the witches now.

Thanks! Actually, don't worry about it, I'm not finding Bloodborne difficult, I'm proceeding through the game with a good pace. The fact that there's no humanity to worry about makes the game easier to me.
