Its not a new genre for me, but I have rekindled a bit of love for the open world game. Currently enjoying Xenoblade X and Metal Gear solid V.

Thinking about it, are there even new genres this generation?

I got more twin stick shooters this gen, although I already liked them before. Last year I really got into Splatoon (shooter?), but its more puzzly due to the swimming mechanic (also recently didn't like other shooters like COD BO2 for example).

Ahh yeah, I got a newish genre. I really enjoyed the pictionary mode in Game&Wario during 2014. It was a laugh with family/friends.

Hmm, I guess Splatoon pulled me back into the shooter genre, though that's the only shooter I play, haha....

japanese survival horror games, its nothing new for me but anything else was under my radar besides resident evil and silent hill back then

Splatoon got me into 3rd person shooters.

Never been a huge RPG guy, but Xenoblade X makes sure that I'll be coming back for more ARPGs.

I'm trying to get into Xenoblade Chronicles X which isn't hard because of the extra polish but it's a genre I'm not keen on. I'm getting back into fighting games because There's been nothing interesting since Soul Caliber and DOA3 until Killer Instinct finally came back.

Game of Thrones (ttg) is a completely new genre for me. My friends did a podcast of it if you wanna see.

Shooters. Specifically 3rd person shooters. Splatoon got me pushed me into trying more of the genre and so I got Mass Effect 3 and Watch_Dogs and I absolutely love those games. First person is still a big no for me though. I have tried to get into that with games like Halo. Not for me.

It's not really a genre on its own, but I recently finally got into Dark Souls. I had played it before as well, but it just didn't pull me in back then. I decided to give it a second try and now I'm completely hooked.
