Are You A Casual, Core Or Hardcore Gamer?

Casual 29 12.78%

Core 127 55.95%

Hardcore 71 31.28%

I'm a core to casual gamer. Like a lot of other people have posted, I don't play games like I used to because of time management or other hobbies. But I still love playing, and talking, about video games.

I'm both I guess.

But what decides who is a casual and who is a hardcore? Is it the time we have consumed playing games through our lives? Because that make us all here harcore probably, is it the interest we have in gaming related things? Because again we are all harcore then. Or it is the kind of game we play? Because that is complicated, what if I play only casual games like Mario Kart (I dont) but I spend 500 hours on that game and I became a pro, am I still casual? What if I spend a whole year playing Animal crossing daily, am I casual despite my harcore dedication to the game? Is confusing.

I don't know anymore. Over the last 3 years I can go several months without playing a single game. Then I'll suddenly get the urge to play something... or a new game comes out that I wan to play. Except I'll binge play it and finish it in a couple of days (Second Son,Bloodborne) or a couple weeks if it's longer (MGV).

There's no 'I'm not sure' option, so you have to pick!

I'm going to go with core then

I just call myself a gaming enthusiast, I play on a host of consoles and try to play as many genres as I possibly can, and diversify my gaming experiences. I'm happy playing a high quality graphical showpiece on my PS4 or a beautiful artistic Wii U game, but have no problem switching to say a Wii, Gamecube or N64 game. If a game is good then graphical presentation is secondary for me (although its nice to have both)

Well, if I put on a scale from 0 to 10, 0 being a non gamer, 4 casual/core and 10 a hardcore gamer. I would be on 6. I do like a lot video games, I am well informed about the subject and I am kinda involved on my favorite franchises (that embraces many genres and IP's and keep evolving with time). But I have other hobbies and many responsibilities that pull away my dedication to be a hardcore gamer

I'd say something between core and hardcore. I'll vote for core since I don't collect games and I'm not obsessive about gaming but I play regularly and like to go for achievements. I was casual until I turned 27 or something I think.

I don't know really. I mean I own 4 8th gen cinsoles, come here alot, but don't actually game that much, due to time and I get bored quick off games. So I dunno

i think i am more hardcore lol

Define those terms. Depending on the definitions, I think I could be any of those.

I suppose a simple definition would be:

Casual: Someone who doesn't play as often, or is willing to play more family orientated games even if it's just on special occasions.
Core: Someone who plays regularly, supports thier console of choice but isn't obsessive about it.
Hardcore: Someone who plays games nonestop, buys everything they can and collects video games or consoles as a hobby.

There's more to it than that but that'll do.

By those definitions, I suppose I'm between core and hardcore. I suppose I'm closer to core, but it's really not that simple. What about mods? I use them a lot whenever I feel like they improve the game, which seems like something even average core gamers might not do, and I'm also working my way into the games industry, having already worked on two small projects (that haven't been released yet).
