Forums - General Discussion - Dad punishes kid for bad grades with ridiculous haircuts

Don't be naive that just because teachers require a bachelor's degree doesn't automatically mean that they're great teachers, especially in a public school setting. I've peer tutored math in the past where I had to help out a teacher that forgot a lot of her algebra 2, and it was kinda really sad.

You can make all the judgements you want, but I won't. You're not in their shoes, so you can't fully comprehend their situation.

Since when did post-secondary require Algebra 2 for entrance ? You can list as many obscure corner cases as you want but it doesn't change the general case and not especially for those as young as them ...

When you jump into pure mathematics, which is required for teaching degrees with a mathematics focus (at least where I live), sometimes the simpler things like algebra 2 gets buried.

Well, what is this going to do? It doesn't help the situation at all. If he really wanted his son to do better, maybe he should have paid more attention to his performance at school and tried to help him.

Make him do better next time ? Cause otherwise the high end world ain't gonna accept him if he keeps going like this ...

My parents reminded me of how it was like to be poor when I had questionable academic performance so to cut the BS I went to university to study engineering!

The kid should be even lucky that he's getting fed, sanitized, and getting a free education! Why should parents have to accept their children unconditionally ?!

@Bold Some parents just can't do that like my dad comng nowhere near close to high school education!

Sounds like my life haha.

Exactly. I'm shocked to hear that some users here think this is fine.

You have to understand there are vast cultures differences between a kid that goes to a public school in downtown Memphis to whatever upbringing you've had. I applaud the parent for taking an active role in child rearing and doing all he can from allowing his kids to go down a bad path.

The background doesn't matter... there should always be other (better) ways to solve problems.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

And just like you I have a younger sibling that's a lazy bum ...

I want to break the cycle of BS and they know they can do it too if they try ...

haha you read that about my younger brother.

yep, my life changed drastically because I saw the bullshit hours my parents worked to support us. I didn't want to be looking like a warn out old person at the age of 40.

Yeah, that will definitely make that kid a better student! Simply genius!

Disgusting... Public embarrassment is not an acceptable punishment for a child, it's just bad parenting.

hhahahhahaha,,, sorry but its funny.
And I think this will work.... thats motivation right there, hahaha.... I needed a good laugh.

That said I can see why some would think this is over the line, and I feel the same honestly.

Wasnt there a while ago a topic raised, on how asian's rise their kids and how it usually works? but at what costs type of thingy?

I feel like this is up there with that.

Instead of a strict Asian mom, that takes liberties away, and maybe smacks her kid around, this is a black dad thats dissapointed and felt this was the best way to show his kids the error of their ways.

Sloppy dad, he starts things and doesn't finish them!

Anyhow yes, it looks like that kid has some problems and his dad can't even vaguely see them when he watches him.
