Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is the Xbox One controller defective?

Does MS or the store you bought the controllers from accept returns? Might want to try that out.

Never had this issue myself on 360 or xone contollers. Just recently picked up an elite controller and it's fantastic

Oh course they are, they use AA batteries.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Yeah I get drifting. Only on the controller that came with the console though. Luckily the others have been fine, but i guess they haven't been used as much
..

I've had three regular controllers and two of them have broken (one drifting and one the buttons broke and my original Day One controller is still going strong). The build quality on Xbox One controllers seem woefully inadequate, which is disappointing considering the 360 controller was great from the get-go.

However, both me and my cousin each bought an Xbox One Elite controller and so far we haven't had a single problem with them...even when I dropped mine by accident into a 400 degree oven!

When I bought my XB1 the controller included with the system had a soft 'B' button. I ended up getting a replacement.

Later when I bought a second XB1 controller the left analog stick made a weird clicking sound when moved.

The quality control on XB1 controller/parts manufacturing seems to be pretty poor.

The worst that happens to mine are the occasional random disconnects.

That's some crazy bounce. How'd that happen?

This issue happens with my 360 controller. MS must use cheaper joystick parts. Or the plastic just wears out quick. Even during when they build the joystick.

I had similar problems with my PS2 and 360 controllers. No problems for PS3 or PS4. Though I am much more careful nowadays, and my older brother (who rages) does not use them as much.

The actual sticks on most Xbox one controllers fit really loosely on the center pin/gyro. Some controller you can grab the thumb stick and move it straight up and down. A tiny piece of paper around the pin can usually fix it. That's the first issue. Another issue I see a lot is the plastic keeper that holds the bar for the left and right click "L3 R3" buttons breaks right down the center causing everything too actually feel loose and drift really badly. I've fixed and and replaced a few but of my own I had two with drift issues. One just drifts and I just replaced the entire analog gyro itself and the other the clip broke so I super glued the add a little hot glue on. These controllers shouldn't have this problem.
