Forums - Politics Discussion - Democratic Iowa tie breaker...a coin flip

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/coin-toss-broke-6-clinton-sanders-deadlocks-in-iowa-and-hillary-won-each-time-2016-02-02

The race last night for Iowa between Sanders and Clinton was historically close, 49.6% to 49.9% in favor of Clinton.  Six precincts were so close they ended in a tie. So the obvious decision was made...to let a coin flip and chance decide who would be declared the winner. In all six precints Clinton won the coin flips.

Regardless of who you support, this system is laughable.

Of the 44 delegates awarded Clinton has 22, Sanders 21, with the 1 left expected to go to Clinton.

If six precincts were a tie.... 3 for each. Seems like a pretty obvious solution, no?

And the Clinton campaign won all six coin tosses... but the very fact that coin tosses was the deciding factor is degrading to the whole democratic process.

Agreed.

This is scandalous. The coin doesn't even try to hide its bias.

Everyone already knew that money ultimately dictates the winner of the presidential election, but this is getting out of hand.
