I do not see why they would not offer both costumes. Anyways it is not a huge issue.

Because America and Europe have enough in common to get the same version. Japan, on the other hand, tends to be very special. Are you seriously against cowgirls? |
really? There is a huge cultural difference with sexuality and history between the two unlike this change sugest. This case pretty much proves that videogame devolopers take the standard for the US and put it on everything else outside of Japan and view instances in Australia and Germany
After all these years, cowboys are still kicking Native Americans out of their territory...

You silly English people have no idea what censorship is. Censorship is when something is blocked by a government for being obscene. This is localization, or the editing of a game to make it better appeal to the foreign target audience. |
I feel like I have the same argument with people who believe that censorship is only censorship when legally mandated. Self-censorship is an actual thing (see Cambridge Dictionary definition here) and it's done out of fear of backlash from a market or group. NOA/NOE believes that the outfit could possibly offend Western markets, so they remove it and put something else in. It's a largely meaningless change, but it's still censorship. That's kinda why it boggles the mind more as there's no reason to edit it.
