During their post earnings conference call EA said that the PS4 and XB1 install base (sell through) had reached approximately 55 million as of December 31st 2015. 

Please note that this is an estimate from EA and therefore is based on their internal research + IDG numbers or whatever market research companies they subscribe to. 

We know that Sony have sold 35.9 million as of January 2nd so we can estimate that the Xbox One is somewhere around ~19 million. Give or take. 

Solid numbers for both consoles.

Well well, good tracking. Maybe XB1 a bit over tracked but all in all good job!

I'll keep it around 50 mil. Seems more accurate.

Either way, great turnaround for Xbone and PS4 from last gen. Hopefully Nintendo learns from them

VGC's numbers for France and Germany are off. While it got the cumulative numbers right, it got the distribution of the cumulative sales wrong.

So with MS announcing that Xb one volume was up, while revenue was down, for the final quarter of the year. And VGC LTD numbers being more or less right according to EA's estimate. And sell though numbers for the same period for VGC showing a small decline. Does that mean MS overshipped a bit, or does that mean VGC overtracked Xb one's LTD prior to the final quarter?

It is kinda useful to have an updated point of reference for the approximate Xb one LTD independent of VGC. Because I think MS is never going to publicly announce it's Xb one LTD for the rest of the generation. The gap between it and PS4 is simply too large for MS to be able to really talk about its LTD in a positive light so all PR will be in relative terms, YoY comparisons and generation on generation comparisons (while they remain favourable.
