I don't buy games digitally, so I guess that I'll either just stick with the older games with physical releases or pirate digital-only games.

Has anyone cracked any of the 8th gen consoles for piracy yet? Because if not, you'll probably be waiting a while.

I honestly can not even remember the last time I bought a physical copy of a game. Thanks to Steam I have been digital only for years so no, I wouldn't even notice if the market as a whole went digital only. I stopped worrying about collecting games, their long term value and all of that nonsense in favor of just playing the games I enjoy. Also, I laugh at the idea of spending more than $5 on a game, ANY game.

I can wait for a while. There are tens of thousands of games that have been released physically, so running out of games shouldn't be a problem.

No. In fact, I almost went digital this gen but decided it wasn't quite ready. Most likely will go digital starting next-gen

I would be strongly against it, but if I could make multiple copies of those games to insure I keep them, then it's an evil I would have to accept... or quit gaming, haha...

shit can happen you can lose everything in a fire and what not. But with physical copies there will always be the option avaible to you to rebuy and play these games again

You say that like you cant do that with digital.

Infact say if your place gets on fire - your digital games will still be there because they are tied to your account (unless of course you are going digital on a Nintendo system l0l) - so the only thing you need to do is just buy the hardware and not BOTH hardware and the physical media.

These servers like steam, PSN and Xbox Live dont hold forever. One day they will be shut down and you wont know what will happen with your games

for me absolutley, if Sony, Nintendo and MS decide to make Digital Only hardware in the future then i am done with Mordern Gaming. I dont see the point why i should invest money into something which is dependent on these servers and linceses.

I much rather spent money on things i will be able to play even in 20 or 30 years from now on, no matter what. And its not only longevity but its also the fact that physical copies drop in price but they can increase in price as well. Even mordern retail games like the NA Devils third version becomes a collectors items @day1. Digital games can only go down and you cant resell them. Why should i spent 10-20$ for a 2D Indie game if i can buy SNES or PS1 games who do it better, are sometimes even cheaper and increase in value maybe?

The 8 Gen consoles biggest competitors isnt PC or Mobile but their previous console generations when it comes to my wallet. /rant

So if old games are good enough for you... why don't you stop buying and playing modern games right now? You can save a lot of money that way, it doesn't make sense for you to wait for the digital only era.

true but i still want to support physical gaming. I play and collect on everything mordern or vintage, every Wii U and PS4 game i have bought was new

And the Nintendo issue will be non-existant within the year thanks to Nintendo Account and NX.

Also, digital will soon all have the benefit of cloud saves, so in that scenario you wouldn't lose likely tens of thousands of hours of playtime like with the alternative.

(a few physical games do have cloud saves, but he seems to regect any modern tech advances that don't involve the sense of touch, so I doubt he'll take advantage of this)

Can't really argue against that. There's always one.

If you buy games expecting them to increase in value, you're just being foolish. You will make more for your efforts flipping burgers.

If it provides me with a huge HDD where to store my games and if my internet speed is enough to run streamed games properly and download games fast enough, then no, I won't quit.
