So a little back story first, a friend gave me a free Xbox 360 and he told me that the disk trey won't open so I have to open it with a flathead screw driver, he told me he became pro at it because he changed disk all the time, I am now trying to open it and it won't open, I tried everything I can but it only opens a little bit but not all the way.

Any help?

Be careful so it doesn't suddenly shoot open and launches a disc that slices your throat. That can happen.

Anyway, maybe using a knife, or at least something sharper than a flathead screwdriver will make it easier?

My 360 has done this for the past few years now. What works for me is I take the front plate off and there are these two small holes right below the disk tray. I take the end of a paper clip (since it fits pretty much perfectly in) and if you poke around while pressing the button the tray usually opens. Sometimes it takes a while, but its always worked for me.

I say look up video how to eject it. See if that helps.

Play digital games OR buy a cheap Xbox 360 replacement. On eBay you can find cheap, working consoles with no cables or controls.

if the disc tray wont open, give the console a nice smack in the face. 

lay the system on its side (where the disc tray is horizontal), and then hit the console right above the disc tray, but in the middle of the tray portion. this needs to be done when you press the button, so as the console is trying to open the tray, you give it a smack, and that will assist it in completing the task. this is usually a problem with there is no disc inside the system. when there is a disc inside, they tray is weighed down and that is usually enough to keep it from sticking. that will usually get the thing open. it might have to be a good hit though. i have provided a picture on where exactly to hit it. good luck :)

My original 360 does the same thing now. If you push the button, it just makes this donk sound, like something's moving inside and then nothing happens. If I keep pushing it, after awhile it'll open but 95% of the time it won't.

Funny thing is, my SNES and Genesis work flawlessly lol
