it can be considered as one of the best anniversaries in general.
they are making a TCG set with the exact art of all the original cards. They also had 20th anniversary boxes be released every month for 2016.
pokemon sun/moon is being released, and looks to be better than XY.
Pokemon was involved in one of the biggest mobile games ever created, surpassing even Clash of Clans/Clash royale.
Pokemon was also announced to be in a movie this year.
Limited edition 3DS's are being made with pokemon themes(hell yea)
What an amazing year for long term pokemon fans like me.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.
