Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo be chastised if NX remasters / ports become a thing?

The port/remaster outrage was and is predicated on the ignorant belief that because a remaster/port is in development, then a new IP is not. I don't think it will be the case for most considering Nintendo typically gets complaints for other reasons and it depends on how well it fares.

Omg you're so ill informed on the matter.  PS3 development was nothing like ps4. They are polar opposites.  Saying they're used to HD is also a mute point.  The HD games now are way more detailed.

Answer these two points you continue to dodge.

#1 if a dev team has 200 people what's wrong with 5 of them remastering the last game?  it helps fund the current game,  fills the droughts and keeps the fans happy while they wait or its perfect for series new comers.  It might also allow the publisher to judge demand for next mainline entry so they can invest wisely.

#2 those 5 guys who do the remaster would probably be sitting around waiting for their part of the main project if they weren't on the remaster.  So it's more productive.

There is demand for them so we get them.  It's all good my friend :)

Except PS4's architecture is designed to be similar to PCs and thus make development easier so yes it is an excuse, you don't seem to understand publishers and developers, many of them would rather just release remasters and lower the amount of new games they have to release over a gen as it's cheaper and requires less effort and risk. Remasters can be made by a lab monkey for all we care developers will still use them as an easy option and say "Development is harder and takes twice as long" for people like you to eat up despite the fact that Sony and MS made things easier and the are tools that make development far more convenient and easier.

This is why people weren't happy with developers, a few remasters is one thing but a slew of them is worrying much like when DLC began to get exploited.

I don't think anybody complained about New Play Control titles on Wii so I don't think it would really hurt NX to have updated ports of select Wii U titles.

Yes development is easier if they were making ps3 level games.  Except their not and many studious had to make 360, PS3, ps4,  x1 and pc versions of the same game.  Much harder than the 360/ps3/pc combo of last gen.

Just wake up and smell the coffee.  We're getting games releasing that should have been delayed for another 6 months because they weren't ready for release.  It's a stone cold fact.  development is getting harder and longer.  Just look at Nintendo.  They take so long to get their more advanced games out.  Even the likes of star Fox that look pretty basic get delayed.  As I said making games now takes longer.

A remaster takes a few people and it's a perfect filler.  Stop pretending they're the reason games come out later.

If they can make PC games then making PS4 and X1 games is no hassle as they share very similar architectures your excuse doesn't add up in any way you yourself need to wake up and smell the coffee as you're letting developers pull a fast one on you. Star Fox only entered development about a year ago and is out in April, this contradicts your whole argument altogether as when it was shown in 2014 it was still a concept demo and is now a full game to be released in 2 months so that's a year and a half development which is actually quicker then previous Star Fox games, your own example just shot down your whole argument, you just proved my point.

You can keep fooling yourself developers aren't feeding you remasters to get lazy much like people fooled themselves thinking DLC won't lead to microtransactions but that's the reality of this gen and why it started slow.

Ok Bro keep thinking the whole industry has gotten lazy!

Yeah all those 200 plus man strong AAA teams are just sitting there doing nothing while about 5 of them work on a remaster.  This is so funny.

it will defeniatley get a lot of remasters and the handheld NX will be just another Vita, meaning there will be no point in owning the Hanheld version if you already have a NX console. Just like it is with Vita to the PS4. But i dont think it will be effected by it

I would prefer ports of N64 and Gamecube games. Image an Eternal Darkness or Wave Race HD ports. I've never played Mario Sunshine before, but I'd love to play it. I don't think I would buy ports of Wii U games though.

tbh ive seen a lot of people defend third party and sony/microsoft ''remasters'', but ive seen people ridicule Nintendo for stuff like TP HD and what not.

I think Nintendo would get bombarded like they are now

There's a lot of hypocrisy in the gaming community

but make no mistake, while i see it a lot AGAINST nintendo, the hypocrisy will also shed its ugly skin IF NX does have a lot of ''remasters'' of Wii U games and those same Nintendo fans that codemned sony/microsoft/third parties, suddenly are ok if Nintendo does it in droves

Yeah pretty much this. In the end we'll have to see what happens, but there will be outrage either way.

Who said they're doing nothing? What's funny is your fabrication of an argument, they're just not as bothered to get new games out quicker because people like you are content being fed a lazy option. Want an example of the industry getting lazy games being released with issues and need serious patching but people as yourself also make excuses for developers when this happens as well.
