Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will Nintendo be chastised if NX remasters / ports become a thing?

last of us and Grand theft auto say hi

So you bought your PS4 to play last gen games then or once again you didn't read the posts before?

Remember the moral outrage over Playstation receiving many next gen remasters and ports for the first 2 years.  Xbox got some stick too but strangely enough most of the outrage was targeted at Sony.

Lately there's been a ton of talk from Nintendos fans about remasters and next gen ports.  A lot of them are saying they want these NX remasters and ports and a lot are just stating Nintendo will likely do it (not saying if they're for or against).

So my question is,  will Nintendo suffer from this same moral outrage from the same people who chastised Sony and Microsoft.  I remember how Nintendo were portrayed as the white knight and would never stoop to such lows.

The NX is fast approaching and people have many questions.  This is another question for you.

I don't think so. Also moral outrage over that is weird. Just don't buy it.

Also it's not really the same, they want a few people that didn't buy the wii u to experience some of the great games they missed. this is a low selling console that too many people didn't play some great games. this is a good idea for them and gamers.

And you're wrong.  It's not an excuse to get lazy.  AAA games take longer than ever to produce.  They have teams that can get well over 100 people.  Meanwhile a port could have 5-10 people on it.  I believe God of war 3 remastered had 3. Stop pretending it's at the expense of new games just so you can justify your faux outrage. You're fooling nobody.

It's an excuse you're the one pretending it's not, companies have been doing AAA games for years they even have experience in HD development now yet their output when new to HD is better then now when they know the ins and outs, they even have engines they can license to speed things up. They throw you a remaster which people like yourself accept as a filler for a brand new console so they don't have to bring out as many new games.

The' more it's accepted in how it's being handled the more it's going to be exploited, it happened with DLC when Bethesda released the infamous horse armour and people defended it then companies like EA took it to the next level with microtransactions now it's a part of the industry.

Omg you're so ill informed on the matter.  PS3 development was nothing like ps4. They are polar opposites.  Saying they're used to HD is also a mute point.  The HD games now are way more detailed.

Answer these two points you continue to dodge.

#1 if a dev team has 200 people what's wrong with 5 of them remastering the last game?  it helps fund the current game,  fills the droughts and keeps the fans happy while they wait or its perfect for series new comers.  It might also allow the publisher to judge demand for next mainline entry so they can invest wisely.

#2 those 5 guys who do the remaster would probably be sitting around waiting for their part of the main project if they weren't on the remaster.  So it's more productive.

There is demand for them so we get them.  It's all good my friend :)

Something like 50% of ps4 owners didn't own a ps3. By your logic,  that's enough of a reason to remaster some ps3 exclusives.  And I agree,  it is.

The moral outrage sounds weird because it is.  It could be faux outrage and they're infact just trolling.  Who knows.

tbh ive seen a lot of people defend third party and sony/microsoft ''remasters'', but ive seen people ridicule Nintendo for stuff like TP HD and what not.

I think Nintendo would get bombarded like they are now

There's a lot of hypocrisy in the gaming community

but make no mistake, while i see it a lot AGAINST nintendo, the hypocrisy will also shed its ugly skin IF NX does have a lot of ''remasters'' of Wii U games and those same Nintendo fans that codemned sony/microsoft/third parties, suddenly are ok if Nintendo does it in droves

As long as it's not overdone and it's mostly of games that genuinely need it, I know I won't mind. Of course I would prefer new games, but cash grabs are needed every once in awhile.

Wii U NNID:  CWegzz
3DS Friend Code:  4210-5277-5484

You would hope not because by then its been argued to death on an industry level.

My take on why PS4 got flack is because when we first saw the PS4 presentation it was flooded with all these new game trailers and logos of all the wonderful developers working on PS4.

Sony hyped the fuck out of the PS4 on the promise of games. Then when reality, it felt like there was more remasters from 1st party studios than new games.

Microsoft got less flack because they did it less. They did however get lots of flack with the Halo collection being incomplete and needing 20gb download lol. This stupid decision is why i do not own a xbox one atm.

No of course not. The western gaming media cartel doesn't consider Nintendo to be a threat to MS so they can do no wrong.

Nintendo should be able to do it. Their games tend to stand the test of time better than their competition since they are less demanding to make and focus more on art style than pushing major graphics. Also for my sake I hope they do because I need to get back into Nintendo.

The western media cartel? Nintendo alienated themselves. It's how they've always been. If they cannot win they play ball the hard way all by themselves. They are like that really talented and hard headed kid in class who is so self obsorbed that he is forced to play with himself in the corner because everyones talking to their neighbor about things they have in common.
