Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One from a PlayStation Fan Point of View

I'm Nintendo fan with Wii U being my console of choice, but obviously missing out on great 3rd party stuff I always buy a PlayStation to accompany my Nintendo. It was a no brainer that I opted for a PS4, I find it to be a better all round console than the XB1 and Microsoft lost me as a customer when I went through three 360s due to RROD.

I'm a fan of gaming, I guess. I bought every Nintendo console ever (aside from Virtual Boy). I bought every PlayStation console ever made. I bought an Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Personally, I disliked what Microsoft planned on doing with the One. I buy the games I want at full price on day one almost without fail. The ones that I'm in the fence about, I sometimes only but because they're cheap. But I can't deny it. The Xbox brand caters to the kind of gamer that I am more than any other company. My heart says "Nintendo", my wallet often says " Sony " but when it's me and my family alone and it's time to play some games, we usually end up playing Xbox One.

Altough a lot might claim it, but a gamer without a side is rare. I don't think I could afford to sustain 2 consoles, nevermind 3.

My fav changes gen by gen (nes, snes, ps1, ps2, 360) but i tend to buy everything, even the Ouya. Nobody's totally unbiased but I like the feeling of knowing that no matter what gets announced, I can play it.

I'm definitely a Sony fan first, Nintendo fan second, Microsoft fan third.

I've just never been sold on the Microsoft brand. I owned the original Xbox, and barely played it, so i never bothered to get a 360, especially after i saw pretty much all of my friends, 360's die, some had 2 or 3 die. I was considering an X1, originally, but that was quickly thwarted, with all of the crap they were going to try and do early on, and also, when PS4 became the console to own this gen. I've always been more drawn to Sony's broader range of games, and the familiar controller, that i've been using since the PS1 days. I also don't care for the offset thumbsticks of the X1 controller, or the fact that you have to use regular batteries.

I'm not sure what it'd take for MS to get me to ever switch from Playstation, but they haven't been able to do it as of yet. I like the ability to either trade my game for another one on a game trading site like GameTZ, or just plain sell it on Amazon, when i'm done with it. I buy very very few digital games, mainly just indie games, that are usually $10 or less. It'd take alot to ever get me to go full on digital, since i just don't feel like i'm getting as much for my money, when i buy digital. I also refuse to buy digital music, and will only buy cd or vinyl. Maybe it's because i'm older, that i just like to see something physical for my money, but who knows for sure, in the end.

Xbone has promise, but is severely lacking in the exclusives department for me anyways. Was super excited for Scalebound in 2016,but sadly it got delayed to 2017 :(

I think Microsoft has done a pretty damn good job in turning around their image in the last two years from where it was when they revealed Xbone. If Microsoft had Phil Spencer at the helm from the very beginning then I don't think they wouldve had the initial problems they did.

Looking forward to Scalebound as I stated above,Cuphead and Sea Of Thieves

Scalebound delay means they aren't rushing it so that's a good thing in way.

If Phil was head of Xbox from the start, Xbox would definitely of continued to be dominant in the US. It's like they returned the favor for the screwed up PS3 launch.

Its a double edge sword really, good that they can take the time to give it the fixing it needs, but bad that its one less exclusive for the year they'll have.

I also agree about Phil Spencer. If he was here from the beginning of xbone then we'd prob have a tighter race between Xbone/PS4. The xbox brand wouldnt of been drug to the mud early on

Phil hasn't changed anything.

On my job, decisions are made by several people on a corporate level.  Sometimes, things go wrong and SOMEBODY has to be held accountable.  They tend to sacrifice somebody to appease the public. They can say "We identified the problem, the person responsible, and its been taken care of."

I kinda feel like that's what happened at M$. They fired one guy for decisions that probably had input from dozens and dozens of people.

i like systems that dont attack your dashboard with spam and that dont require you to install games and waste a bunch of space on your hard drive and have free online and stuff. systems like that are good.

The XB1 is the first console I brought at launch, only because I loved the Halo Universe and couldn't care less what the console was as long as it played my favourite FPS game. The Xbox could be a toilet but if they keep giving me gems I couldn't care less.

As a PC gamer the Xbox is the best console iv played because of how similar it is to the PC. Yes there games are also similar but I feel more at home gaming in the living room with my Xbox then I do with my Nintendo or PlayStation mainly because of the PC vibe. Normally I keep my RTS/Sim/Shooters and Indies on PC and the rest I get on XB1.

Reason I brought a 360 was due to Halo 3 and backwards compatible Halo 1 and 2 and the same reason I brought an XB1, for Halo 5 and 6 etc.

Its a great console, I find gamers are just kids trying to make fun of something they don't understand. The truth is the XB1 and PS4 are so very much the same thing, those dissing the XB1 have to understand the PS4 is not that much different. That's the funny part of forums and trolls.

I still prefer to game on PC and will continue playing PC until I am too old. But Xbox did an amazing job to get me to jump on-board.

I'm a fan of all games....period. I own every single PlayStation and Xbox to date. (yes I still have the first PlayStation and the OG Xbox). With Nintendo I've owned and NES and SNES. Never had the 64, but still got my beloved GC, Wii, and Wii U.

Now I will say something that I've never said on this site before. If I had to choose between the Xbox and PlayStation, I would choose the PlayStation. Reason? Variety. That's all. I've always felt that PS had more variety/diversity over the other 2. Still, I go where the games go. I really don't have a bias with consoles. I will say this though. Like others have stated about Phil, I believe he's done an incredible job turning things around for Xbox One. The negative stigma that XBox One was under isn't there anymore. Only ones that keep it there are....ahem...you-know-what boys! Xbox One is starting to add more variety to their library as well. I'm extremely happy about that. It's why I have all consoles to begin with.

Xbox One should get the praise it deserves, in my opinion.
