Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One from a PlayStation Fan Point of View

Strictly speaking I've owned a 360 but I still consider myself a PlayStation fan.

We all know that the Xbox One launch was a castastrophe, it was so bad that that hundreds of millions of dollars that went into launching the god damn thing was being thrown away every time Mattrick spoke a word.

The whole concept of the original Xbox was just very anti-consumer with restrictions on used games and 24hr check-ins to make sure you still had the game. Personally I couldn't care less if I bought a game and couldn't sell it without taking it to a authorised agent. I don't buy old games, I always buy new or digital. But it just felt wrong! Did the media overreact? For the majority of things, yes, but that's what the media does, it finds the latest band wagon and they all jump on. Bad news spreads like wildfire and filters onto social site, forums and before you know it you have the whole world against you. Needless to say, if it's harsh or not, it's happening and you can't do anything about it.

Then they made the best decisions they could ever make, kicked Don to the kerb, gagged Phil Harrison before also kicking him to the kerb and promoted another Phil to the Head of Xbox. Love or hate Phil Spencer he's given the Xbox team a laser guided focus on games. There's was a transition period were the Xbox went from - original vision, to lack of identity, a gamers game console. It's gone from a console that was destined for doom to a console that I want to buy. Something I thought they couldn't recover from 2 years ago. It's probable that the PS4 will win this gen but that doesn't really matter as long as the console is great, which I can finally now say.

What are your thoughts? Mention if you are a Sony, Nintendo, Xbox or PC fan.

I don't like them because of the rrod and having felt like they always nickel and dimed you on unnecessary peripherals. The og Xbox is my favorite and the only franchise I feel like I'm missing currently is gears of war. Other than that, Sony has an extra generation of games on them, that I can play on my ps3. That's a major incentive for me. And now, VR

Im a nintendo guy (buy every new console they make), that also likes playstations.
I think my perception of the Xbox One has been turned from "omg wtf is this sh*t" to "okay thats not bad".

I still wouldnt buy one though? why? I still see it as a dude bro console (halo & gears of war), and everyone else I know that games is on a playstation. Then theres the issue of multiplats usually playing better on the PS4.
Also... RPGs, the PS4 just has them all, while the xbox one only has a select few.

How do you feel about the Xbox One?

They're original direction is what made me buy a ps4 on launch (knack bundle) after playing xbox original over ps2 and xbox360 being my favourite console of all time,so many amazing memories. If it wasnt for Phil I probably wouldn't have ever gone back to Xbox, i think he talks to much but what hes done is increadible. Im primarily a xbox fan, Ive owned and played on all 3 consoles this gen, I currently only own a xbox one again after playing the last 6 months on wii u/ps4, i think all 3 consoles are great.

This is what I feel too. He talks some BS to the media but he's changed the image of Xbox One.

Being primarily a Sony and Nintendo gamer, I think Microsoft has done a great job of turning it around. I remember the backlash against the Gamecube and especially the PS3 (initially), so it's fantastic that MS is working hard to improve X1's image.

Regardless of fan wars, all 3 consoles push the other ones to do better, which is always better for gamers. No duh!! ;)

And that's what we need to remember. We might want our consoles to sell the most but we should all hope that all consoles are successful

I'm a fan of gaming, I guess. I bought every Nintendo console ever (aside from Virtual Boy). I bought every PlayStation console ever made. I bought an Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Personally, I disliked what Microsoft planned on doing with the One. I buy the games I want at full price on day one almost without fail. The ones that I'm in the fence about, I sometimes only but because they're cheap. But I can't deny it. The Xbox brand caters to the kind of gamer that I am more than any other company. My heart says "Nintendo", my wallet often says " Sony " but when it's me and my family alone and it's time to play some games, we usually end up playing Xbox One.

Altough a lot might claim it, but a gamer without a side is rare. I don't think I could afford to sustain 2 consoles, nevermind 3.

Xbone has promise, but is severely lacking in the exclusives department for me anyways. Was super excited for Scalebound in 2016,but sadly it got delayed to 2017 :(

I think Microsoft has done a pretty damn good job in turning around their image in the last two years from where it was when they revealed Xbone. If Microsoft had Phil Spencer at the helm from the very beginning then I don't think they wouldve had the initial problems they did.

Looking forward to Scalebound as I stated above,Cuphead and Sea Of Thieves
