Apple, the biggest company in the world, with some of the best products in the world. But now, its lost its way... how so? Well we can trace this back to Steve Jobs. Now when he returned to Apple in 97, it was a mess! Money was being burned up alarmingly, and the company was facing bankruptcy. But in under a decade, he turned it in a major sucess, and led it to become the largest company in the world! But steve is unfortunently gone, and I feel Tim Cook is like the Steve Ballmer of Apple here.

Now many could say that's idiotic, but what has Apple done since 2011 that has blew the world away? The apple watch? Please! The iPad Pro? Come on! A bigger iPhone... congrats, only 3 years late! So far, nothing Apple has done have been truely innovative. The only way Apple can innovate is by making things "tinner" and "lighter", but then ruining functionality. And it shows. The iPad line has seen its market share plummet, and sales are on a freefall pace. The iPad Pro on the other hand seems to be a failure. Now WW sales aren't available, but reports have shown it has done under 50k in China! Wow....

As for the Apple Watch, well this is also a product late to come! And sales have ranged from ok to bad. Apple is remaining hush hush... and while they said it was for competitive reasons, I have my doubts.

So far, under Tim Cook, we've seen Apple turn into a stagnant company. Focusing on things consumer's don't want, and practically stalling on innovation! Nothing significant has come from Apple in 4 years, and now we may have to wait even longer for the next "big" thing, which BTW maybe a car....

Now when I heard Apple was making a car, I was just nodding my head thing WTF. Leaks have come showing this project has turned into a disaster, with a hiring freeze now in effect. I worry Tim Cook is following a strategy Apple took in the 90s, which is to spread itself too quickly into products that aren't making money, or simply don't have anything to do with what Apple stands by. This is was what resulted in Apple nearly going bankrupt. Now I'm not saying Apple is done for, its a massive company with lots of $$$! But I worry Apple will stagnate, and will eventually become what Microsoft was of the 2000s, focusing just on iPhone, and leaving the rest to slowly rot.

What are your thoughts on this? Is Apple really losing its way, or is it simply having a minor hiccup?

Edit: I want to add in that Apple did disappoint this quarter, especially on sales. So I do see this as worrying, especially at this timing.

Edit 2: Google has just passed Apple's market value.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I have never seen Apple as being very innovative at all when it comes to creating technology, but they have been absolutely amazing at creating an image of exclusivity and creating user-friendly products that makes us realize how we can use existing technology in a better way. What Seve Jobs did, was to set rules as to how they should manage their image, what Products to go for and what level of quality they should have. This seems to have disappeared with Tim Cook, and I see them more as a manufacturer among everyone else nowadays, nothing really special about them.

Nah, Apple was never an innovator in my eyes ...

It was always their solid support and software ecosystem that kept them afloat when it came smartphones ...

In fact they spend very little on R&D relative to their size when it comes to being one of the leading technology companies ...

One thing I always kinda liked about apple is how "professional" the design on their products looked even though I don't agree with ever buying one (maybe except their iphones)... Until they came out with this nonsense:

Steve jobs would have fired everyone if he saw ugly nonsense being released under his watch. Looks like a a Chinese knock off with the apple logo but its an official product. Apple has indeed lost their way although I don't agree that they were ever "innovators". They popularized already existing technology, sure but "innovators" is stretching at best.

They still make more money and have a larger cash reserve than many developed nation states do.

They're doing fine.

I already stated this. But in terms of innovating and creating great products that sell. I believe the boat has sailed.

I don't know if apple lost it or not, I got tired of upgrading my iphones every 1 or 2 years, last one i got was the 4s and it does perfectly well everything i need it to do. Now for innovation, i'm not sure apple is or was innovative at all. iPod? We had mp3s and mp4 media players way before the ipod launched (Creative labs had their own ''ipod'') I still wait for the day they release a video game system, that's pretty much all they need to be the same as the competition.

Does it matter if they know where they're going? Many people will follow them regardless, even if it's over a cliff.

I hope not. Apple is bae.

Every year I always feel like Apple has reached its peaked and will start to decline with the lose of Steve Jobs. But then they release their financial status and they just keep making more money yoy.

They may have lost their "way" but they're definitely not losing money lol
