It's not a long wait. In few weeks or some months we'll know it.

The software platform will come out this year.... the console next year. I will be happy if I'm wrong.

At this point it feels like a lot people who are claiming 2017 as the NX release date would feel satisfied and vindicated if Nintendo released any version of it on Jan 1, 2017 at 12:01am but feel like Nintendo made the worst mistake of all time if they released it on Dec 31, 2016 at 11:59pm.

I'd be a little surprised and mad. Unless it's a cool concept. Then I'd just be surprised and excited. Wouldn't give it too much importance.

If the NX were to come out this year it would mean that Nintendo chose to throw in the towel. Get ready for a Wii 2.2 with some gimmick thrown in for seasoning. 900p, less powerful than PS4, and no dev support.
