Which do you think is a better game, the Wii original or the Wii U sequel, and why?

If I had to choose, the original Xenoblade Chronicles.

IMO, when it comes to music, story, and characters, the original beats X, and all those three things are important things to me in a video game.

I like the gameplay in X more than the original in some aspects, like how there are different BLADE groups you can join and customization options to your class, which is nice, but I also liked the Monado in the original, how you could use all these cool arts to affect your stats and whatnot when fighting enemies.

And back to ther character thing, I liked the playstyle and just well, character of every single character in Xenoblade, especially Shulk, Dunban, Melia, and Seven. With X, the only character I really enjoy is Elma, the other characters were alright, except Lin, with her annoying "let's eat Tatsu jokes" every 5 seconds, and while I like Tatsu, he's no Heropon Riki.

Overall, both games are amazing, but if I had to choose, the original.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I hold them as equals, but for entirely different reasons. There are areas where Xenoblade Chronicles tops X: while X's central plot (granted, the required story missions are only a small slice of the writing) while good doesn't match the sweeping epic of the original. Unless the last chapter just floors me :P. But then, side content is an area where XCX completely and utterly craps on the original. Almost all of it is tightly unified by the driving underlying narrative, giving the game a sense of unity and tasks a sense of greater purpose. And the game admirably avoids the issue of fragmentation, a problem many other open worlds suffer where the side content and central content are clearly segregated and exist almost completely parallel.

Those are examples of the sort of back and forth the comparison is like for me. Equal, but entirely different. And most importantly, both excellent.

I haven't played either, but I will choose Xenoblade X! :p

It's very pretty..

The original is significantly better than X.

I have never played Xenoblade Chronicles (the original). I plan on playing it someday, but if there's one thing that I find interesting about that one, it's the story. From gameplay footage, though, I think X might have the better world, (as in, open world). And that's probably the one thing that I think gets it above for me in the end.

I've heard that the party AI is much better in the the original, which sounds good because your party is pretty dumb and would be useless without you in XCX.

bet: lost

XC: Better story, characters, intuitive gameplay, navigation

XCX: Better world design/layout, vehicles, customization (Fashion Gear FTW)

Wash: OST, Sidequests

Overall: I liked the first game more, but they both do some things better than the other. I just prefer fantasy type stories over sci-fi in general, so the first game was more appealing.

All in my opinion of course. And taking into account that I'm only up to Chapter 7 on X.

X for me. Best gameplay, with all the classes and weapons, plus Skells. Best overworld, although it's fair to say that it takes advantage of a better hardware. More meaningful side-quests. The inclussion of affinity quests is a step beyond the heart-to-heart of the first one. More grounded and three-dimensional characters. The characters of the first one are merely plot devices, without some real background. The one thing I liked more on the first one was the plot, but just a better plot doesn't make a game better.

I think X is the better game.

One of the big things for me in X was how good the sidequests were in comparison with the original, the affinity and normal quests were pretty good, I actually cared about completing them, unlike the original.

While the story in the original may be more epic per say, I also like X bigger focus on characters and overall I enjoyed it, it contains the tropes and moments that I have come to love in stories and that is more than enough.

The soundtrack in X is absolutely amazing, there is not a single track I don't love.

And also the gameplay, I like the improvments like the Soul Voice system and dual weapons for ranged and close combat, the appendage mechanic, ect. and Skells, cannot forget the Skells

I love monster hunter 3, therefore I love fighting monsters, grinding, leveling up my character and getting better equipment.

That's what XCX does best, and while the story and characters are far superior in XC, I enjoy playing XCX more.

I can say XC is better, but I rather play XCX
