Look at all the diversity here, no problems here ...

And lol no Arab actor is getting cast in anything major unless he's playing a terrorist.

lol I bet someone made that table to show how unfair the casting was between whites and minorities.

"Egyptian thief" and "Egyptian lower class civilian", I lol'd so hard.

(obviously that table is cherry picked and doesn't represent Hollywood movies in general)

Having a "token black person" in a movie isn't exactly the massive accomplishment you think it is.

I didn't claim it was. Usually he is there just to fulfill the demand and nothing more. Filmmakers put him there so they can deflect accusations of excluding minority groups, or when they believe that one token black guy will be just enough to make minorities feel more included.

The truth is that black people are overrepresented in TV series and movies. You can discuss the value of their roles, but in raw numbers they make up more than the 13% they make up of the US population.

I actually don't think they over-represented in TV/movies at all. It's more like 90-95% white actors and 5-10% everyone else, so that does not line up with demographics at all. Latinos get screwed in particular. Asians barely registers, Indians only show up as taxi drivers. Anyone Arab is a terrorist or involved in a story centering around terrorism.

Wrong. I can't find the study now but there was one and it showed that black people were over represented in movies. They definitely are on TV.

Sure they are on in TV as the "token black guy/girl". People still have a stick up their ass about a black/minority actor in what is a "major" role, and that was proven pretty clear when some idiots couldn't deal with there being one black Stormtrooper in a Star Wars movie.

There are like 30 superhero movies with dozens of characters and like 5 black people in them, and even then some people complain that Nick Fury is played by Sam Jackson when the rest of the Marvel Universe is whiter than vanilla ice cream.

In 20-30 years, "colored" folk will be the majority in America, the demographics of what is shown on screen lags woefully behind.

Might want to ask why they need specific black "insert anything" to begin with.  When you don't get invited to the club, you often make your own.

Could be, but we majorly don't mind when they do, but if anyone else do we freak out

Imagine there being the big club that everybody should have equal rights to be a part of but some categories of people seem to rejected from.  So they (group B) form their own club.  Makes sense.  And now imagine that same group (group A) that rejected the group B starts their own exclusive club as a direct reaction to  Group B's club.   That's a slap in the face.

Society screwed over black people so they formed the NAACP to help each other out.  An official NAAWP isn't needed because society already operates as an NAAWP.    All societies glorify the actions, accomplishments and aspects of the dominant race/culture in power.  Everyone else  is by default disadvantaged and their glories get relegated to black history month or an elective in school or a biopic on the History channel.

When you are white, you don't see it.  When you are black, you can't miss it.

Could be... as I said in 3/4 black heritage but very light shade of skin. But I'm sorry to say that the hypocrisy of crying wolf for one case and aplauding the other (and not only for black guys case, but all perceived minorities and woman exclusivities) and hostilizing the supposed favored majority won't ever gain any traction for major support for change... who will fell enticed to help a group when the biggest speakers are even more biggoted haters and bad mouth you?

Are they really bigoted thought?  Or just reacting to the treatment received?

Some are biggoted against other people just like them "just because they whitened in their actions or blended with the whities" and several other bad opinions over other black guys... And when talking about the white you can see a lot of hatred. You can say it's deserved, I won't discuss it. But would you expect any positive outcome from people asking for you to submit to their will while cursing you and accusing you of all the bad things they had (or in some cases their ancestors had but be is living fairly well)?

If he wasn't nominated this year, then who cares if he shows up? He's not going to win anything.

What does "token black guy/girl" even mean?

First, so what if there's 5 black people in the superhero movies? That's still way more than all the other non-white races combined. Secondly, there's plenty of black people in the superhero movies as there's plenty of racebending to get more black people in them. They even made Deadshot black.

As for "colored" folk making up the majority in America, we're not there yet so that bridge will be crossed when it happens. Also, you do realise that "colored" people doesn't consist of one race, right? And no other race is overrepresented - just black people are.

So I wonder if I'm allowed to watch TV or most movies, and award shows ever again. Being Native American... I think the only thing that has happened was when Marlon Brando had a native woman accept for him. And she was boo'd off stage. Actually, people are people. I don't give a fk what color they are. no one else should either.
