Is anyone recording?

Well, I'm writing all of my progress here. Mike 321 has also wrote his progress. At the first page of the thread there is a link with each one of the parts. Feel free to look :)

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Oooh okay ;o!

Hmm if only I had more free time and wasnt working on other recording projects - I could have played Abyss with ya'll guys xD.

Don't worry, another time then. I should have started this run a year ago, back when my list of must play looked slim. By the time I finish The Abyss, I'll have at least four games to play.

Hello again, before I get into the part 4 of my let's play I feel like now it's a good time to give my thoughts on the game so far.

Overall I'm liking the game a lot, I do have some minor complains so I'll adress them first: the voice acting is great most of the time but NPC's are awful and annoying, most of the times unbearable. The combat system is better than I expected at first and it gets deeper as you progress, however the system takes a big hit when fighting against multiple enemies because it becomes a complete mess.

That's it for the wrong, everything else is great. The characters are amazing! (Luke is already one of my favorite protagonist ever), the story so far has me engaged, combat system like I said is so much better than I expected, the artes and fon gives it a lot of deep and the strategy board where you can set the actions of your party fits perfectly, voice acting is great, customization while it's not the deepest one has some interesting elements like the cooking.

Those are my quick thoughts so far, if you haven't already check part 1, part 2 and part 3 of my let's play.

                                                                                                                             Part 4

After taking a quick break in the inn and buying some new weapons and supplies we started our search for Anise again, we talked to Field Marshal McGovern and his son Glenn McGovern (the current ruler of St. Binah) and he gave us a letter Anise left for us. In that letter she explained to us that when she went to Kaitzur because the oracle knights were watching St. Binah, she also revealed that she has a big crush on me, I mean I know I'm handsome and I have a charming personality but damn she barely knows me and she is already in love with me?! I guess that's how little girls are...

We have to cross the Fubras river in order to get to Kaitzur, unfortunately the bridge that connects the land between the Fubras river was destroyed so we had to cross the river by foot. We were on our way out of St. Binah when suddenly five of the six "god-generals" appeared, Guy named them with nicknames included (he knows a lot about the outside world, he claims that is because he reads a lot but I have to wonder if there is something he hasn't told me yet), Arietta "the wild", Dist "the reaper", Legretta "the quick", Sync "the tempest", Largo "the black lion" (he survived Jade's attack) and the one missing was Asch "the bloody". Since the oracle knights were unable to find anyone, one of the god-generals ordered them to leave St. Binah.

With the soldiers no longer looking around, we now had the chance to leave but Ion collapsed once again (what a weakling!) so we were forced to rest for a while in the inn. Once inside Jade asked Ion were did the oracle knights took him, he said the knights dragged him to the sepiroth, apparently they are our planet's "vital points" or something like that. I asked him what he was doing there but of course he told us it was a secret of the order of lorelai and he didn't say anything. After we rested for a while we finally lefted St. Binah and we headed to the the Fubras river.

We fought some monsters, no big deal, but in the middle of our way Arietta showed up. She was pretty mad because apparently we killed her mother, the liger queen. Turns out she lost her parents in previous war and she was raised by the ligers, and the queen was her mother. WHAT THE HELL?! the outside world is full of crazy stuff.

The fight seemed inevitable, but all of a sudden an earthquake hit, Arietta collapsed, ton of cracks opened in the ground and poison gas called "miasma" came out of them. The gas was everywhere, we were cornered but Tear used a very special fonic hymn (one Yulia herself used, Tear told us her family is descendant of her so that's why she can use that fonic hymn) that made the miasma dissapear, but only for a short period of time. We were about to leave the area but Jade approached Arietta with the intention of killing her (this man is a crazy cold- blodded assassin, he can actually kill somebody that is unconscious) but Ion told him not to do it and he didn't, instead we kept moving until we finally reach Kaitzur.

We finally found Anise, she was trying to cross the board but she was stopped because she didn't have a passport. She joined us but she wasn't the only one there, Asch (one of the god generals) came out of nowhere and knocked me to the ground, he was going to kill me but Master Van appered and saved me! I was so happy to see him again, however Tear wasn't, in fact she was going to attack him again. Master Van was able to convince Tear to talk to him at the inn, finally we were going to set things straight.

Once in the inn the conversation started, Tear accused Van of trying to start the war between the two kingdoms and that he ordered the oracle knights and the six god generals to stop Ion from going to Kimlasca to deliver the peace treaty letter of Malkuth. Master Van told us he wasn't aware of the current situation, that the oracle knights and the generals were acting according to the orders of the Grand Maestro Mohs and not his. He also had no idea that Ion was acting as ambassador for the two kingdoms.

Master Van asked Tear what she was doing here (she is in the intel department of grand maestro Mohs), obviously she didn't speak but Master Van deducted that she was requested to look for the seventh fonstone that Yulia left somewhere, a very important item because it has information about the future, that's why very powerful organizations are after it. Tear denied what Van said, but I belive he discovered her mission, regardless that's not important right now. Master Van had a ton of passports so that we could cross the board, he told us to meet him at the Kaitzur military port to board a ship that would take us home (finally!).

We reached the Kaitzur military port and just when I thought I was finally going home, we heard screams and a monster's roar. Turns out Arietta and her monster damaged the ship we were going to board, Master Van confronted her and told her to explain her actions, she said she was acting under Asch's orders. One of her flying monsters came to help her, she was about to leave but before that she told us that she kidnapped the maintenance chief (the only one who can repair the ship) and if we want see him agains Ion and I must go to the Choral Castle.

Master Van told us that he was going to take care of Arietta so we shouldn't go to the Castle, and I was going to obey his order but some engineers showed up and asked us to help their chief. Ion agreed and since Arietta asked for both of us I decided to go with him, plus Guy told me that's the place I was found when I was kidnapped seven years ago, maybe I can recover some of the memories I lost. Before going there we went back to Kaitzur to rest, I have a feeling very crazy events are going to unfold in the Choral Castle.

I wish you guys a good time. I have gone throught it a couple of years ago when the game launched for 3DS.

It's a great Tales game. Good characters, good world fantasy, good story and good combat. Its up there with Symphonia and Vesperia as the pinnacles of the Tales series. Enjoy!

I think you'll find Sync is wearing a mask, not glasses.

Also Dist and Jade is the best dynamic out there.

Haha, I'm liking Mike's style of writing. It's like Luke's daily journal writings he has to do every night. Clever way of doing it. Though I am surprised you like Luke. I wanted to strangle him in the beginning... o_o

I liked him too ;o.....though moreso the 2nd half of the game.

Yeah, I mostly mean the 1st 3rd, but he is a char I never really ended up liking. I see what they were going for though.

Thanks , I like Luke because I find myself agreeing with him in a lot of situations (including that Mieu is annoying ), plus I like his "screw everyone and everything" attitude, something I haven't seen in a protagonist ever and it's very refreshing.
