Seems like you guys have got cracking now. To the Cheagle Woods now right?

I don't know. I saved and stopped after Master Ion appeared. More game later. :)

Second session of The Abyss: Finding the Cheagle Forest .

------------------------------------------

After the apple incident the last day, Luke and Tear go to find the Cheagle Forest, to see if those creatures stole the food of the town or not, and to check on Master Ion. So we go searching for the forest. I find a lot of places, but I seem unable to find the place. Also I have to point out that the game suffers severe slow downs if more than one enemy appears on the overworld while I'm travelling. Could it be my 3DS showing its age, or does it happen to everyone? Anyway, I grind a bit, I buy gear and weapons, I try to run away from the birds (those enemies do a lot of damage, surprisingly) and I finally find the forest.

There, we see Master Ion being attacked by hyennas and other monsters (Professor Birch?), but he throws a spell and kills them all. He falls to de ground tired, and our protagonists go to his aid. They talk a bit. Apparently Tear is also a member of the Order of the Lorelei, and the sister of Van Grants. But wait a minute. Didn't she try to kill Grants at the beginning of the game? Luke asks her about it, but he gets ignored in favour of the pursue of the cheagles.

I suppose the cheagles are the mascots of the game. Big heads, little bodies, big puppy eyes, they only say miau... They are designed to be kawaii, I'm sure they sold a lot of plushies in Japan.

They find a cheagle, and they follow it to their nesting grounds. And yes, they stole the food. Apparently, one child cheagle burnt down a part of the forest and other predators ended up with no food. Under the threat of being devoured, the cheagles steal the food of the town. Luke decides not to help them in a rather rude maner (he's kind of a dick all the time, but I suppose that is part of his character arc), but they eventually decide to help the things. The elder cheagle (just a cheagle with beard and moustache) sends the kid cheagle responsible for the fire with the team, to go and talk to the predators. Annnd, that's it for today. I have work to do.

Reading back on this, the dark wings destroyed the bridge? I find that kind of hard they were able to do that, haha!!! It doesn't seem like they could, and it makes me wonder why they destroyed it... x ) Also, you can move around in the 3D plane, but you have to hold a button. It gets really handy when you get pushed into a corner! O: Sounds like you're having a good time over all. I look forward to see how you do further on xD

Hello again, if you haven't check part 1 then do it . A quick reminder, I'm writing my let's play as if I was Luke (the main protagonist).

                                                                                                                     Part 2

This peasants at Engave made me so mad! how dare they called me a thief? I'm royalty and those types of claims won't be tolerated, Tear said I should move on since the villagers already did but that's not happening, I decided to go to the cheagles woods to prove this people I'm not a thief.

We arrived at the woods and the first thing we saw was Ion surronded by monsters, he was able to get rid of them with some strange power but then he collapsed. We asked him what he was doing here and he told us he was concerned about the cheagles and their actions, apparently they are considered holy creatures by the order of lorelai.

Tear introduced herself to Ion, and she revealed two things: that she is part of the Oracle Knights and that she is Master Van's sister! I asked her why did she try to kill her brother? (this girl is crazy!) Of course she avoided the question but lucky for her this little cheagle appeared out of nowhere and after it noticed us it ran away, I'll deal with Tear later catching the cheagles is the priority.

We found their nest thanks to Ion (he is not useless after all) and right at the entrance we found engave apples, now that I'm sure that the cheagles are the thiefs I'm going to kick each and every single one of them in their faces!

This little monsters make very annoying noises, lucky for us the cheagle elder is able to talk our language. Thanks to the sorcere's ring that some chick named Yulia gave them their irritating sounds translate into our language. The cheagles are vegetarian so we asked them what's up with you stealing human food? The elder then told us that this dumb (she didn't called him dumb but clearly he is) cheagle named Mieu burned up the home of this creatures called Ligers, and now the cheagles have to bring them food daily unless they want to be the food.

I didn't give a damn about the cheagles problems they are weak so they get what they deserve but of course Tear and Ion wanted to help them. Ion suggested we should try to convice the ligers to leave the cheagles alone (of course that's not going to work, he is not as clever as I thought). Unfortunately we had to bring the little dummy that caused all this trouble because we needed a translator. I still can't believe Tear finds him adorable, I think he is annoying and stupid, I also thought he was useless but then he told us he can breath fire thanks to the sorcerer's ring the elder gave him, thanks to that we were able to get inside the ligers nest.

The ligers queen was there, too bad she wasn't alone, behind her there were some eggs (apparently ligers and a ton of monster are born from eggs) she was protecting. She wasn't in the mood to mess around with us and she decided to go straigth to the fight, she tried to hit us with some rocks and one was about to hit Mieu but I saved him (I'm such a badass!). No more games, it was time to fight and I was ready (or so I thought)

After getting my ass handed to me by the Queen 4 times I realized I made a big mistake, I didn't buy new equipment when I was at Engave and the one I was wearing clearly wasn't enough. I went back to the village to upgrade my equipment, and Tear's as well because while she might be a crazy girl that tried to kill her brother, I do need her help. Now I'm ready to bust the queen's ass! (or so I thought).

Even with new gear my attacks were doing nothing to the queen, I was taking her attacks quite well myself but in the end she had the better chances of winning the battle, however that dude named Jade came out of nowhere and helped us. I hate to admit it but thanks to him we were abe to beat the queen, and when the battle ended we went back to report to the elder.

After we told her everything the elder decided to punish Mieu for causing all this mess and she exiled him from the tribe, not only that but he has to serve me for a full cycle of the season. Of course I didn't want him to come with me, he is annoying and dumb I know he is going to bring me troubles, I still don't know how but they convinced me to take him.

Finally we solved this whole food thief situation and it was time to go (or so I thought, damn I was so wrong today). Turns out Jade told this little kid called Anise to bring soldiers here so they could apprehend us, they took us to their big ass ship (also known as land dreadnought) called "Tartarus".

Once inside the ship Jade told us the reason he took us is because of the seventh fonon reaction Tear and I had when I tried to stop her from killing Master Van and we teleported to the Valley. He asked for my full name and when I told him I was Luke fon Fabre, son of Duke Fabre, he revealed his real plans. He was heading to Kimlasca in order to try and stop an imminent war between Malkuth and Kimlasca (I wasn't aware of the current relationship between the two kingdoms, then again it's not my fault). He then asked me to help him, I asked him how and he said that if I wanted to know I first need to trust him and agree to help him out. That's ridiculous! how am I supposed to trust someone that asks for my help but refuses to tell me what I need to do? He suggested us to talk to people around the ship, that they would help us gain his trust. This Jade dude is just as irritating as Mieu, but I guess I have no choice but to do that he says.

Woah woah woah woah woah. Let's just step back a little bit here. Mieu sure is annoying but he's also lovably cute; how can you possibly find Jade irritating though? He's my hero!

Funnily enough I'm just about to go into the Cheagle Woods on my playthrough as well...just, you know, about 50 hours down the road from where you are.

Hehe remember I'm writing my let's play as if I was Luke (and he says Jade is obnoxius) I belive that will change in the future tho.

Third session of The Abyss: Where we kill a lion-turkey and we are trapped on the boat.

------------------------------------------

After promising the elder cheagle to deal with their predators, I grind for a while on the forest before continuing. I realize that my methode of fighting is just spamming regular attacks while jumping, need to improve my combat. We arrive at the liger's nest. The liger queen looks like a mix between a giant lion, and a turkey, and she's protecting her eggs. Suddenly that makes everyone go crazy. The ligur seems as sentient and intelligent as the cheagles, ans she warns the team to back off and leave her and her eggs alone, but Tears said they have to kill the ligur. Apparently the ligur kids like to eat humans, and without the rest of the forest, they will attack the town. Luke is understandably doubtful, but fights anyway. First boss-fight of the game? Not really. The thing kept hurting Luke and Luke hurts the ligur. After a while, Luke and Tear say "it's too much for us, we can't take her". Was that a scripted boss? I used potions, why would you make me use potions on a scripted boss-fight!? From nowhere, the blond military guy and his friend from the town appear, and with them, the ligur falls quickly. The eggs die (awww :(, I want the ligur to eat some cheagles).

This raises a lot of questions. If the ligurs represented a threat for the town and the sacred cheagles, why haven't the military ended them before? Why do the Lorelei people have an alliance with the cheagles instead of the ligurs if they are both intelligent and sentient? If they just killed the ligur queen, have they just broken the natural equilibrium of the ecosystem of this sacred forest? Without a natural predator, are the cheagles going to breed, swarm and consume the land? The poor ligur was killed by the team while the cute cheagles get to be the mascots. Just because it isn't a cute critter. Poor thing. Luke is disturbed by this, while the rest just accept is as normal. After they go back to the elder cheagle, he thanks the team and gives Luke the little cheagle that burnt down the forest (it's called Miau). The team exits the forest, and Luke and Tear are instantly captured and put under arrest by Jade. And they go on a boat. A boat on land. They get a bit of exposition, and all agree that Luke knows anything about what is happening (neither do I) so Jade let's them free to explore the boat to get to know the curret situation. What's really going on? Will there be war? Will the cheagles bring armageddon upon the land? Next time on Tales of the Abyss.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Because they really had no reason to end them since they were not a threat, they became a threat after the super evil Mieu burnt their forest.

Fourth session of The Abyss: We are still on a boat. And under attack.

------------------------------------------

Last time, we were capture by Jade and held captive on his land-battleship, the Tartarus. He says the team should discuss some things after Luke explores the ship a bit. So he goes to explore. At first, the boat seems really big. I'm thinking: "Wow, this is huge, it's going to take a while to explore it all". But most of the places are off limits for now. The team talks about politics for a while, and during all that Luke complains that he doesn't understand a thing. Which is good, because I follow it all as slowly as he does. In conclussion of all of that, there is tension between the two countries, and inside the order of Lorelei some people want war and some don't. Jade's plan is to bring Luke to Kimlaska as a sign of peace and to avoid war, while avoiding all the possible warmongering factions. Luke agrees while being an ass, but agrees, and that's the important thing, because the Tartarus gets attacked. By what? Apparently gryphons and ligurs. Those ligurs are being dropped on the ship from the air. That will teach the team to kill ligur eggs to save cheagles! Go ligurs!

Anyway, they have to regain the control of the ship, when all of a sudden some guy appears and attacks the group. Some big guy with a sythe and a hair straight from Kingdom Hearts attacks Luke. he knows a lot about Jade, he calles him Jade the Necromancer and Tear is surprised. A powerful necromancer on the team! Are we going to use zombie attacks, or steal the soul of our enemies against them? No, because the bad guy uses a box that nullifies Jade's powers. Jade is pissed and kills him with a sword while Anise tries to find Ion, who was away from the group. Luke is shocked that Jade killed someone, and te rest tell him that they are under attack and they could be killed at any time too. They go to recover the control of the Tartarus, and while Jade and Tear try to recapture the control room, Luke fights and kills a soldier, and hat sends him into shock. When the team regroups, they get attacked by the evil doppleganger from the intro cutscene, and a friend. They are captured and sent to an unguarded prision (either dumb or a trap, I bet for trap). They escape, recover their weapons and get ready to fight back. What will they find? How will they do? Do the ligurs ave anyhope for revenge? Next time, on Tales of The Abyss.

Out of curiosity did you do that thing on the Tartarus to get the robot? I'm not sure if it's compulsary or not.
