Criminal Girls on the Vita was censored, though not to a crazy extent. Just some pink cloudiness on the screen when there would normally be a butt-crack or some underboob.

Must google this....for research of course :P

I don't think those that want to be offended care about things like context. A lot of people just listen and believe what an article tells them without looking at the source material, go on twitter, say they're offended and feel good about themselves because they think they said something just. I'm sure if some gaming site that loves to politicalize things just told them to be offended without showing any kind of context; that would be enough for them. |
I merged this with another IP in my mind, so I made a small edit to my post. Regardless, this part of the game has nothing to do with making a gay character straight.
Well, I think this scene was very unfortunate. I saw it, and if the translation I read is accurate, which I don't know, it could be seen as a "gay conversion" scene. Maybe in context it makes more sense, but using magic powder to make a lesbian starting to be attracted to men... At least it's one of the interpretations. I don't know if a complete cut is the right choice, but maybe re-write the dialogue to erase totally that interpretation.
Apparently the Japanese were..... Not to fond of this scene. And I'm not really either. Drugging someone? Really?
Glad they made this change.

When it comes to Japanese games I've only heard censorship from Nintendo though. If you can find other Japanese games that aren't from Nintendo (and not on a Nintendo system) that does randomly odd censorship please let me know. Just lately I keep hearing it coming from Nintendo and just can't help but wonder... |

Thanks for the link. Seems like outside of Nintendo systems there's very few Japanese games that got censored and if they did it was mainly because of too violent.

Off the top of my head; Xenosaga III, Resident Evil, Blade & Soul, Kingdom Hearts II, Street Fighter V(though I don't know if that's just in the west or in general because of all the bitching), Monster Monpiece (the only reason I remember that one was because Idea Factory had to issue a statement), small one in Skies of Arcadia but I see your point that Nintendo is responsible for probably the majority of examples of censorship in video games in the west. Just another reason for me to dislike NOA and hope they do a complete overhaul on its staff and policies.
If people are wondering why this is happening it's because the treehouse took on a lot of politically correct former game journos as they were being burned out of their old encampments following the Sarkeesian debacle.

This part here makes me wonder. It sounds like the character won't be attracted to women at all in the western version of the game? And from what I understand, this wasn't about curing someone of homosexuality, but making a bisexual (?) character not be afraid of men anymore. |
I read the translation as able to fight alongside cute girls (think moe or little sister rather than romantic interest) and more comfortable around men.
From I what heard there is a lot of questionable stuff in Fates. I hope they don't change most of the game to appease people.
