Damn I hope that rumour is true. I've always expected the plain headset to be 299-399$, and never gave up hoping for 299$, but realistically expected 399$.

BTW, fantastic thread SWORDF1SH, collecting all the news about PSVR etc.!

I'm right there with you. I've been expecting something between $299-$399 but I think $399 is more realistic. I'll be very happy if it's only $299.

Actually $399 with camera and controller would be my guess, and $300 for the VR headset alone. Though for $420 it would likely include two controllers and a game.

On another note, I really hope the release a new move controller. The current one is fine, but an updated one with better tracking an analog sticks would be best.

299$ .... Its happending.

I didnt think they would be able to get it that low (thought it would be 349$-399$).
299$ is a price point where it just slaughters the Oculus Rifts 600$+ price tag, I mean, its half the price and you dont need a 1500$+ pc.

If I had to invest in a VR headset, Id feel safest with the PS VR one too.
You know its going to have great support with games.
Oculus rift could drop off the side of a cliff in a year or two, and see far fewer game releases for it (if it fails to sell).

That we will. I googled VR pron and a bunch of sites came up claiming to have VR pron for oculus rift but I don't know if that's just click bait BS or not.

If you're talking 360 degree videos then yes, one needs special (and still quite expensive) cameras for that.

That makes sense. Shouldn't take porn long to invest in that technology. The first one to do it will get all the site visits.

I was actually pretty confident that Sony could get it that low. It's not as good as the oculus, it doesn't have a controller and two games which also knocks even more off the price.

Well, the porn industry was of course one of the first industries to invest in 360° videos. They've already produced lots of 360° porn videos.

And btw, while 360° cameras are of course more expensive than normal cameras (after all, a 360° camera is pretty much just an array of normal cameras packed into a single device), prices for the low-end models start at a few 100 dollars, so it's not quite like only a few rich film studios could possibly afford the technoloy.

I've watched a few 360° degrees videos on Google cardboard so far, and I'm strongly convinced 360° videos will have a great future. The few ones I've seen so far had two disadvantages though: They were rather blurry, and they weren't stereoscopic.
