I hope those are just place holders man...

The price is too damh high IMO.

Dont get me wrong, im more than willing to shell out cash for this device, but i want it to be successful on the long run.

I wonder what numbers are they aiming down at Sony to consider the PSVR a success.

Does an attach rate of 5% Ps4 owners could be considered a success?

I would say that the software developers have it easier because people will be looking for every experience possible with this thing.

If No Mans Sky is compatible with VR, it could have almost a 100% attach ratio to the PSVR.

If they get 5% of PS4 owners buy this, that would be very successful. That's 2M of the current install base.

I think Sony will be aiming for $400 and if the are prepared to take a lost on each unit, they might hit it. I can't see it being lower than $400 but if they can release the PS4 at that price, I could be in for a nice surprise.

I really hope it's not over €400.

And I wonder will this stop people buying a second console like many often do. So instead of a ps4 owner going out and buying a wii u or XB1 they'll go out and and buy a PSVR instead.

Does anybody know if you can just watch movies/netflix with the PSVR or is it strictly just for games?

I can see myself picking one up if there's enough games I'd like to play. But the price has to be right as well.

There hasn't  been an announcement but considering Sony's past with head mounted displays, I'd expect they will explore that avenue.

Thanks! I hope so as well.  It'd just make getting the PSVR a whole lot sweeter :P

as somebody who likes stereoscopic 3D, I'm very interested in VR and PSVR is the only viable "high quality" option for me as I have a shitty PC and don't plan to upgrade (too few pc only games that interest me)

but 1st gen VR might not be able to convince me to buy in ..
I've tried cardboard with my 1080p phone and the image I get is just too low resolution - objects begin to be pixelated (only represented by a few pixels) at a quite close distance, so I guess I'll wait for PS5 and PSVR2.
Ofcourse I'll give version 1 a try anyway once there are demo-stations at retailers.

There's a reason why cardboard is cheap. The optics are not very good. As far as I know, the optics in more serious VR headsets, PSVR included, are designed such that the majority of the screen shows images that will go to the center of your field of view, where you see well, while less will go to your periferic vision, where the resolution of your evey goes down drastically, so resolution there is basically wasted (unless you role your eyes and not your head, hence some people demand eye tracking too - we're not there yet).

So, PSVR will have resolution problems but not to the extent of what one can find in a cardboard. Plus, when the 1:1 hadtraking comes into play, coupled with very low latency and the much larger field of view, the diference to carbdoard shoudl be big enough that it will feel like a completely different experience imo.

Hm.. I can't say I'm too optimistic that better optics and optimized screen tech (I read they decreased inter-pixel-distances and arranged more pixels in the center of the view for the PSVR screen) can improve this "low-res-look" enough for my personal taste, but I'll definitely try it out once I get the chance.

Yoshida afaik already said that non-game-content will be very important for VR.

Pre ordering the second they allow me. Will likely buy 5/6 games on day one. Hoping for a Gran Turismo demo on launch, or Driveclub.

Please please let me play normal game son it and watch tv as a regular viewer.
