I am going to be greedy for you!

We have these devs spending million of dollars for what? To rip us off. These game Devs are stupid. There's no Better word to describe the devs than stupid! If you can think of a better word go for it but the fact of the matter is we as gamers are too smart for their games!

well, to be fair its the publishers who are stupid. the developers are usually not the ones at fault. sometimes, yes, but the real heinous shit is at the hands of the publisher.

Im calling a temporary ban on activision, ubisoft, and EA until we can figure out what the hell is going on!

thats good on you! more gamers need to stand up to this shit.

You know I actually think it's been an amazing start for this generation! For all the things the op listed that are bad I can think of an equal number of things that are great.

Some examples-

-the rise of steam and the return of a healthy PC gaming market

-A very healthy home console market; vs the doom and gloom so many were predicting

-More quality games being released than I can even play, and of a wider variety than we've ever seen. Seriously it's crazy how many good games there are and how many are coming!

-The return of dream sequels and projects like; a completely remade Oddworld, FFVII remake, Shenmu 3, Last Guardian, Ratchet and Clank, Yooka Laylee, Blood Stained, Psyconauts 2, Dreams, etc.

-Strong consumer rejection of draconian anti consumer bs and measurable repercussions for the company that tried to impose them. Hope second place teaches them their lesson!

-A replacement of the mid-tier box product with what I consider to be a vastly more impressive indi game scene

-A steady move toward actual VR- by the way if you haven't tried it your comments on the subject are invalid because I have and it's AMAZING!!!

7th gen sucked more.

God damn season passes and DLC: Don't buy them, or wait until the price is right...

Broken Games: Don't buy them, or wait until they are fixed (like Witcher 3 no?)

Remasters: Are Fine if they are just ports, they should have been released at PS4 launch though.

Lack of Content in Our Games: Agree, Campaigns should come back. Support games that have them, especially JRPGs, Koei Tecmo games, 1st party exclusives, etc.

Graphic Downgrades I personally do not care about graphics but to each their own.

Episodic Games: Don't support them then.

Doing all of that makes this gen just fine for me, you guys are missing out.

Jups and that's why i dont buy these games.
So glad i love japanese games and indies!

I am disgusted by the business practices this generation! We as gamers should stand up to these companies and stop buying their garbage. I am not going to be politically correct like the forums want me to be because we as gamers deserve justice. I am fighting for all of you!

God damn season passes and DLC:

At release Destiny costs well over 120 dollars to have the complete experice. Activision is so god damned greedy they want us to pay for extra dance moves for our characters. Are friends up north in Canada, due to the currency conversion, had to pay almost 170 dollars at release for the whole game. This is not he bungie we know from Halo 3.

StarWars Battlefront costs 90 dollars to have the complete (well not really) experience

Assassins Creed, Call of Duty, Fallout, and just about every other game that came out this generation so far has been trying to take advantage of us. It is disgusting.

Even Nintendo is starting to use DLC in their games!

Broken Games:

Fix your goddamn games. Assassins Creed Unity was a disaster. The Witcher 3 (an excelent game and since fixed) was broken at launch. There are many others. Games are too buggy and should not need day one patches. This is garbage! Halo: TMCC online was completely broken at launch.

Remasters:

While I am not totally against them, this generation managed to screw up all the remasters that came out so far.

The Last of Us - Great game though it did not need a remaster and did not add anything new to the table.

Halo TMCC: Totally screwed up the online. Apparently it's okay now.

Wind Waker HD/TPHD remastering games that did not need it. Should have remastered the older Zeldas in HD. Does not generate any interest in the Wii U.

Lack of Content in Our Games:

Who decided it would be a good idea not to have campaign modes anymore? StarWars Battlefront was ruined completely. Titanfall was a hit and a miss. Call of Duty no longer has campaign on older systems as a way of maximising profits. I am sure there are more.

Graphic Downgrades

Not sure if Devs are outright lying or maybe our consoles we recieved this gen are just really weak. Games almost never look like their E3 showings. E3 is just a big lie! We are bringing it back together folks one game at a time.

Episodic Games:

Companies are now deciding to sell us 1/5 of a game and sell us the other 4/5 for more money.

How did this start? This stated when companies started to go out of business during the recession. A decrease in competition cause these giant companies to become too powerful. Its gonna end here! EA, Ubisoft and Activision by themselves will destroy gaming as we know it. Not to mention all the others who will follow them when they see their quartely profits. Let me tell you, Indie games are a breath of fresh air. I encourage you all to go out and buy one the suits you.

What can we do? Stop buying these games. If you do buy the games, do not get the DLC! We can cause a major movement online to stop all this stupid cooporate greed. We kicked Microsoft's ass when it came to the Xbox One (now the console is an excelent device). If we can change a entire console we can change the industry!

Summary:

No more EA

No more Ubisoft

No more activision

No more DLC

No season pass crap

No episodic games

Don't buy games you know are broken until they've been fixed

1. Nobody is forcing you to buy DLC. Nobody is forcing you to buy games on launch. I'd also like to remind you, and anyone else that has problems with DLC that game prices haven't gone up at nearly the rate they should have, all while development costs have exploded.

2. Yeah, I agree with this. Developers and especially publishers should be making sure the games work properly and releasing them when they're done.

3. So...you just think they should have remastered the games you wanted them to? Sure, damn the industry for not calling you up for advice.

4. Largely, games without single player have failed. It's very likely that Titanfall 2 (and possibly even Battlefront 2) will have more fleshed out single player content. So, the market seems to have spoken. Oh, and they aren't "Our Games" until we buy them.

5. How many games have done that? A handful this entire gen so far?

6. You make it sound like they are asking us to spend $60 on 1/5 of a game. Life is strange is episodic and in total is $29.99. Games aren't more expensive when they're episodic, it's just a different way to release a game.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Pretty much all games I played this gen were good to amazing so far.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I'm inclined to agree. I find myself playing less and less games and the ones I do play are mostly MP games where myself or friends can provide fresh experience because the industry sure as fuck isn't gonna provide it. I've actually started using this gaming PC I built to play PC games and it's amazing how much more creativity and originality there is there, and for a fraction of the price. In just a few weeks I have a double digit PC backlog and it cost me less than one AAA game would cost on my PS4 or Xbone. It's also why I am pretty excited for a potential new Nintendo console this gen.

Jim Sterling just had a new video about this. What he said made a lot of sense. What happened was game sales for consoles had been slipping in the twilight years of the 7th generation. For most of us who's ben around forever, this makes sense. People are getting tired and want something new. A lot of the AAA publishers thought that meant consoles were on their way out and the focus should be shifted to indie and mobile. Needless to say, the sales of the PS4 and the recovery of Xbox One caught the AAA publishers off guard and they weren't prepared. This explains why at the beginning of the 8th generation, we got a ton of 7th gen ports and remasters. It also explains why we're getting so many broken games and why are being carved up like crazy. They weren't ready so these games weren't ready.

While not being ready does explain a lot of the weird business practices, most of it cannot be excused. A lot of these shady practices started on the 7th generation and went into hyperdrive in the 8th generation. I can see why retro gaming has been huge business lately. For those of us older gamers, we want to relive those experiences that we either buried in our closets years ago or gave away to GameStop. For younger gamers, they want that simpler experience with less bullshit that they missed out on.
