Forums - Sales Discussion - The state of XBOX: Uncharted Collection outselling Halo 5

Not sure if trolling...  Unchated 2/3 had a genre defining 12-16 hour campaign that was incredibly replayable, and excellent MP/Co-Op.  Even Uncharted 1 / Abyss had a 8-12 hour campaign worth going through NG+.

Uncharted 3 is as long as Uncharted 1, if not shorter. And even then Uncharted 3 takes a step back in main story replayability by not allowing customizable characters in campaign, unlike U1 and U2. Sure, it has multiplayer, but strictly speaking about the campaign, it really isn't better than U1.

As for the thread itself, bundles helped Uncharted a lot. Then again, Sony has always been more clever at bundling than Microsoft, so it's not strange to see MS' main franchise take a beat because of questionable marketing/release strategies. I don't know if Halo 5 will keep its momentum and eventually outsold the Nathan Drake Collection.

Never understood the fascination in uncharted, games are so short. In that respect they are not worth the full retail prices in my opinion.

Wait a month and get it off amazon for 40-50 bucks.

Internet has really good deals

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

No, bundles played a bigger role.

Without that, it would likely be under 2 million.

I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but I just noticed that a remasted collection on PS4 is outselling the latest Halo!!!  I understand one is bundled and the other is on a lesser-selling system but good lord this tells you the state of things!

It's 3.42 vs 3.37 million copies sold.  This is just crazy to me, and should tell you how much bigger Uncharted 4 will prove to be.  I think we can safely say Sony finally has a bigger series than Halo, or at least now it's comparible.

Thoughts?

both are bundled

Not all bundling is equal.

Especially when the Halo 5 bundle cost significantly more than a non-Halo 5 bundle.

I'd be closer to 1 million. People wouldn't be willing to buy this game more just because it wasn't bundled. It only did 250k in the NPD without bundle's.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

I think mass bundling and userbase are fair points to bring up. Regardless of sales, Halo has still made a huge cultural impact and is more iconic than Uncharted. In terms of sales Uncharted will probably beat Halo this gen, I still think Halo is the bigger franchise overall even if the popularity has dipped in recent years.

On topic:

This all time low was achieved with a much higher user base.

splatoon beat halo too

Same could be said about Halo.

A game's length does not determine the quality though. If you failt o see what makes Uncharted great than tthe issue llies with you and not the game.
