A lot of people probably have moved on. Online communities on consoles are very short lived for most games. Calling it a wasteland though is just nonsense and weak bait.

The thread is 3 pages long and we are yet to see anything close to something relating to "the state of Xbox". All we see is a massively bundled game on the most popular console has slightly outsold Halo on a much less popular console.

I would like to see it renamed, "The State of Halo".

The Xbox One is doing fine sales-wise, but Halo being arguably the Biggest Franchise in Xbox History and The Mascot of the Brand, being outsold by a Collection of Ps3 Remastered Games is...not good, like at all.

There is so much wrong with your posts and its clear this is something you love doing. Maybe your looking at it the wrong way. How about looking at it as Halo 5 is doing pretty well considering the userbase of the console and that its keeping touch with Sonys best ever games they have ever made. The fact that Sony has to throw the game away is a statment to how good Halo really is considering its not a game worth throwing away just yet. Halo is the mascot of Xbox, Halo also increased its veneues by $400m on launch. Its the game gamers buy Xboxs for hence its attach rate is leaps better then NDC. There will be other Halo games to continue to boost the franchise. You cant always sell 10m units.

Stop acting as if Halo is a flop. It has sold over 3.4m units not including digital. The game has already made MS its money back and some.

Why ohh why to people keep mention userbase when there are dozens examples of games that have sold better on just as smaller, if not smaller userbases. Even if you look at the Halo franchise - Halo 1 sold more on less consoles (at the time). Halo 3 sold more on less consoles (at the time). Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare sold better on the X1 over the same time period and Halo 5 had an entire year of xbox owners to sell to tha Advanced Warfare never had. Look at all of the games on the Wii U that have almost as much, or sold better in a similar time frame, and that has an install base of 12 million. You and I both know that Zelda on the Wii U will more than likely surpass 3.5 million units in its first two months. Like I said, dozens of examples.

Install base is no excuse. None. Just give it up.

Install base is not the problem. The game is. The marketing is. The fanbase is. Halo isn't as good as it used to be. Halo isn't as popular as it used to be. People care about Halo a lot less than they used to.  Is the game profitable? Absolutely. That doesn't make the game's sales any less disappointing. The astronomical investment in Halo 5 means that Microsoft isn't just looking at breaking even. They're not even content at a small profit. They want to make hundreds of millions of dollars of profit of a game like Halo 5. That's the intent when they greenlit that game. It did not get there.

according to Naughty Dog, actually you can sell a lot more on each game, never a Crash Bandicoot game, sold less than 7 Millions, and the last 3 games made by Naughty Dog, sold more than 6 Millions, The Last of Us, with the original and the Remaster, sold 10+ Millions, Install Base, have nothing to do with the Franchise, Final Fantasy XIII, sold more than 1.49 Millions first week on japan, for a Install base of over 2.5 Millions.

And we are not saying that Halo, is a Flop, but that Halo, is Microsoft's Biggest franchise and is being beaten by a Remaster, of a Game, that The main entries sold less than Halo,  Uncharted 1, sold much less than Halo 3,  less than 3 times, and now Uncharted Collection, is Out-selling Halo 5,  does not matter if it is bundled or not, Sony, is not forcing anyone to buy the game, even if 100% of Uncharted collection sales were because of the bundle, this is just 1/3 of what Playstation 4,  sold from october, to january, so what you have to say about the other Playstation 4 sold ?.

and Uncharted, is not even Sony's biggest franchise, and this game is just a Remaster, and this is why we are arguing here, is because a Remaster from Sony's 3th Biggest franchise is out-selling a Main game of Microsoft's biggest franchise, we are on a "Video Game Sales Tracking Forum", and you did not want to talk about Sales ?, is like Master Chieff Collection, out-selling a Main Pokemon game, and you want to deny that ?, we are not atacking Xbox, we are just saying that the numbers are incredible surprising, a Remaster of Uncharted, out-selling a Main game of Halo, when last gen had much more Xbox 360, on USA, than Playstation 3.

And this is just a Prelude of what is coming next, i Wanna bet that Uncharted 4, will break Halo 5's numbers on first, or second week, and continue to sell well all throught the year.

Your missing the point. Comparing sales is one thing, but this comparison isnt even the same.

Lets look at it this way. We all know the PS4 is selling like hotcake regardless of the games it has, theres no denying it. Would NDC outsell Halo 5 if it wasnt bundled and if the install base was the same? Thats a fair comparison. Thats like you saying Mario is in decline because Mario 3D World only sold 4m on the WiiU. How stupid does that sound.

Considering NDC Bundle is the cheapest of the lot, are gamers buying it becasue of NDC or the fact its a cheap PS4 purchase. Halo 5 is selling like a good game would. It doesnt have to beat anything to prove its selling well. That goes with all games. I am not sure what is Sonys biggest game to you but Uncharted is the icon of playstation just like Halo is for Xbox and there both selling about the same and one isnt heavly bundles and is also sold on a console with a bad rep and half the install base.

Sony's biggest franchise is Gran Turismo, the game is a Worldwide sucess, sold nearly the same in all the parts of the world.

The Last of Us, easily jumped for Sony's 2th biggest franchise spot.

and the Install base have nothing to do with the sales of a Franchise, if the franchise is big enought the people will upgrade their systems to play the next game, Mario Kart 8, sold 6.5 Millions and still not out-sold by any other Remaste (just GTAV, but GTA V, out-sold every game).

Halo 5, is the Biggest Halo, game that we have this generation, and is being out-sold by a Remaster.

Uncharted collection is selling well and would be selling atlast half that is now, without Bundle, but Halo, also had a Bundle, and is impossible to calculate from what those 400 Millions of US$ in Revenue, of Halo 5's every product, is impossible to know how much has gone for each.

Acording to VG Chartz, Uncharted Collection, sold more than 600 Thousands on Pal Regions, where bundles have little no effect on Sales, and VG Chartz, did not even track the Digital sales, so this collection would easily make 2+ Millions of units sold without the bundles.

What is funny, is that Uncharted Collection, is out-selling a Main game of Microsoft's biggest franchise on a console that Shooters are the most popular genre, and is out-selling Tomb Raider's xbox one, and xbox 360 version, 3 to 1.

And i dont remember one game that Xbox One, sold better than Playstation 4, this is weird, because Playstation 3, had games that were selling more on Playstation 3, than Xbox 360, even with the 7-9 Millions of units behind.

So, there is no reason, or a why, for the people that are not purchasing Halo 5, on Xbox One.

In fairness, I think there are a few shooters that have sold better on X1 than on PS4. Not sure which ones though.

From an alternative perspective, we see a collection of remasters outselling a new release in the flagship franchise of one of the wealthiest companies in the world. We also see this remaster collection doing so with a brand new ps4 attached to that sale. Perhaps one is a system seller while the other, not so much.

Except that we can logically look at the situation and in a factual manner state that Sony could have included any game and it still would have sold tons because:

1. It was the holidays, where all hardware sells.

2. It was the main bundle, and cheapest, which is most important.

3. The PS4 is massively more popular worldwide.

They could have thrown in The Order and it would have sold tons. As for whether Halo is a system seller or not, idk, MS did make a grand $500 super bundle for it. Sure they could have sold way more if they made it the de facto standard $299 holiday bundle game, but they did not.

You could easily argue given the userbase difference and bundle factor, Halo should be even further below it in sales.

Bundles, did not work in Worldwide levels, only on North America, and Europe, on the Pal Regions, Bundles are useless because they are heavy overpriced, i think that on Argentina, and Brazil, Playstation 4's standart were at 1000+ US$, Playstation 4, sold  over 9.3 units on the last Quarter, Uncharted Collection, only sold 3.6 Millions, even if 50% were because of bundle this still only 1.8 Millions, only 1/5 of the Playstation 4, that were sold, so Why Forza, and Tomb Raider, floped if they were bundled on a bundle under 350US$ ?, On the only month that Microsoft, sell something that is november and december, that sell nearly the same on USA, why those games floped under 1.5 Millions ?.

the People mainly purchased the Gears of War bundle, because they wanted to play the previous games before the next entrie, and the same is for Uncharted, no one buys a bundle without wanting to play the game, we will only know the actual numbers of who purchased the Collection because liked of Uncharted, with the Number of users that played Uncharted 4's Multiplayer beta.

This is true.

I bought my Ps4 at a Sony Store in Buenos Aires Argentina at 1000$.

This is true.

I bought my Ps4 at a Sony Store in Buenos Aires Argentina at 1000$.

here is the price of the Playstation 4, at Launch on many Regions (price from 2014)

  1. Brazil — 3,999 real ($1,702)
  2. Argentina* — 10,999 pesos ($1,388)
  3. Sweden — 4,399 kronor ($692)
  4. Colombia — 1.4 million pesos ($688)
  5. Norway — 3,999 kroner ($672)
  6. Chile — 379,990 pesos ($666)
  7. India — 39,990 rupees ($654)
  8. Denmark — 3,499 kroner ($653)
  9. Finland — 449 euros ($625)
  10. Poland — 1,899 zloty ($625)
  11. Indonesia — 7 million rupiah ($620)
  12. Thailand — 19,900 baht ($615)
  13. Turkey — 1,349 lira ($608)
  14. Hungary — 133,900 forint ($598)
  15. South Africa — 6,299 rand ($586)

and my Homeland (Brazil)  were the Winner of "Most Expensive Playstation 4 of all times", i think that is because of that they begun to make Playstation 4, here on Brazil.

lets take Brazil, as one example, the console were at 1702 US$, was cheaper go to USA, purchase a Playstation 4, and then go back to Brazil. but in compensation the Brazilian's PSN, is one of the Cheapest of the World, we pay over 25US$ a Year for PSN, and the deals are very good,  Uncharted Collection, can be found by 25US$ or less, if Sony, were selling Playstation 4 for over 1702US$, is because they could not lower the price and a bundle would not help, the Bundle would raise the price by 300US$+, while you can find the game for much less, here we have Tax that is charged multiple times, because of that is hard to import some products.

Here on Brazil, for a normal person import, or pre-order something from other country, you will need to pay for the Transport(from the original country, to Brazil) if is not free. You will have to pay 60% of Tax over the total price of the Product in Dolar, you will have to pay a Tax, because they  took over the product, you will need to pay a Tax, to start the Tax's process, and also independent if the company that send the product said that the product would go direct to your home, the Local  Government, take the product to apply the Tax, and they dont let anyone go pick the product, just the one that purchased it, so you need to go to a place so far that is nearly on the Hell, and even pay the transport to go take your product.

is hard to buy things on Pal Regions, because of that we dont have Chartz from those places, the people from Pal Regions, import things from USA, or other countries, and hide it from the Government, and try to avoid the Tax, this is how the majority of the Consoles are sold on those countries

Xbox's indomitable series, one many (including myself) thought would never topple, was outpaced by a Remaster Collection. After it had a one month head start. After months of hype.

This isn't "on the decline". This is a downfall. A numbered Halo title, for whatever reason, was beaten by a Remaster Collection. So again, argue the details all you want. The end result is the same in that Halo 5 couldn't beat a Remaster.

Are you really taking this seriously? I dont want to intervene here but Halo and Uncharted are two completely different games. Halo is Halo which competes with FPS games while the other is an Action 3rd peron game. Uncharted can go on to sell 10m units, that means nothing to Xbox or Halo because UC sales DO NOT EFFECT Xbox or Halo. Whats the point in claiming one has outsold the other?

Its a bundle, the way your thinking means that Wii Sports and Kinect Adventures are the greatest games of all time. They sold due to bundles aswell.

You could swap out NDC for Ryse and it will go on to outsell most games. I know you hate hearing that or ignore to believe it, but when a company gives away a game for free its clear it will have a higher sale rate to that which is being sold at a higher price.

Congratulations, you've won the prize for "Points that Go Over Your Head"! Today's point that went over your head is something menial outsold a Halo game, something that anyone would have told you couldn't happen this time last year.

And you're right, UC Sales don't effect Halo Sales at all! It also doesn't matter if one console sells more than another, as long as they are both sustainable! It also doesn't matter what market share is! Or attach rate! Except those are all reasons why we're on a game sales site. To track these things and compare.
