Forums - Politics Discussion - How Rich are You on a Global Scale?

What is your wealth position relative to the rest of the world?

top 0.1% 82 18.55%

top 1% 124 28.05%

top 5% 85 19.23%

top 10% 45 10.18%

top 25% 36 8.14%

50%-25% 26 5.88%

bottom 50% 44 9.95%

Total:442

Go here to calculate where you stand compared to everyone in the world. http://www.globalrichlist.com/

I wish I could do 2 polls as this calculator compares your income to the rest of the world and your wealth (possessions / assets).

Income-wise I am in the top 0.1%...which is crazy as I definitely don't feel like a 1%er, 0.25% which is definitely higher than I would have guessed. [Edit: oops put gross income in first time rather than net income (after tax).

Wealth-wise I am just outside the 5%, which is generally a better measure of how rich you feel, and this is the 1% people actually talk about. So I am well outside that. But still being middle class in a globally small economy and still being just outside the top 5% puts things in perspective.

If you live at home with your parents try to work out where your parents sit, which de facto becomes your wealth position until you are living independantly.

Recent news says that 62 people own as much as the bottom 50% of the world. Pretty crazy man.

My income result was 1.65%. Which is crazy. However 0.1 % is just insane. You must have a really nice job. To get that result you probably earn more than £60.000 a year.

I'm 15, so used my parents numbers for fun. That puts "me" at 0.07% for income and 2.72% for wealth.

I live in Norway though, so I'm cheating

Around 18.5% with my meager trainee income, and... top 3.5% on possessions? On devaluated Brazil currency? WTF? Piketty was right, a lot if not most of money do come from inheritance, and that's just a portion my relatives transferred in life.

But then... maybe these numbers include the whole population of the world,  not just working age, so I guess that could be why numbers seem so high.

Wow, If I lived in Brazil earning the same amount I do in England, I would be in the top 0.02%. The place where you live influences the final result.
