Forums - Nintendo Discussion - IF the Wii U is killed off, should I.... ?

Should I buy a Wii U right now even if it is discontinued in the near future?

Yeah I would suggest getting it, I got a ps2 and n64 not that long ago and I still get xb360 games even if the console isn't supported or it's old the games are still just as fun. Especially nintendo game since it's more focused on couch co-op rather than online so you don't need to worry about servers and crap

If you have the money to blow, go ahead. If not? Then wait for their next console.

I say go ahead. There are enough good (kid friendly) Wii U games to keep him occupied for a long time. And you are right by saying there are many great games you'll enjoy it yourself. Also, I don't know how many tv's you have but off-screen play can be really convenient if he wants to play but you are watching tv.

Also, your son won't care if NX is soon to be announced. I know kids about that age who just got a Wii, and they are loving it.

It won't be discontinued at least two more whole years. But you definitely don't expect some more new unannounced games, saying that Wii U already have great 10-15 exclusive games.

Also my 5 years old loves games like NSMBU, Mario 3D World, Mario Kart and Splatoon. :)

I would say get it, especially if your kid is only 4. Not only does it have some terrific games, but it is backwards compatible with the Wii games and the wiimotes and various other accessories. And Amiibo is bound to appeal. It will be a while before boredom sets in - you'll get value for money.

Plus, the new acount thing they're introducing with DeNA will cover 3DS, Wii U and NX, which suggests support won't be going away too soon.

Go right ahead. It has exclusives, something PlayStation is tragically lacking these days.

When will this ignorance die?

Like HylianYoshi said, wait for the announcement conference at least. It might be BC with Wii U but I highly doubt it.

If it´s for your kid then go ahead, I´m sure he won´t even care if the wii u is replaced as long as he enjoys his games.

May as well, but I guess you could wait to see if the new system will have backwards compatibility..

but then again, all Wii and DS online other than the eShop has been cut so better make use of it now :p
