It will probably continue like this until 2020 when Microsoft ends the support of Windows 7, and most large corporations / governments / schools will need to upgrade to stay secure.

A little bit scummy from Microsoft. While it makes compiling for drivers easier, on the other hand... Windows 10 isn't terrible, but in the event they release another crap OS (and we all know they probably will) this could seriously hurt Intel.
