Well, I think mods on internet forums have to be as harsh as possible. Things get ouf of control very fast on forums. I was warned 1 or 2 times, and I think they had reasons to do it. And I think this deserves, at least, a warning. I have wanted sometimes to call dick (at least) to another person, I just don't do it because that might start a cycle of insults that never ends well. There are an awful lot of options, it's not necessary to insult someone. And saying "don't be a dick" is asking somebody to stop being a dick, which is the same as calling him dick (lol, what did I even say?)

Not really. I'm telling him to not be one. In one context it could be me saying 'you're heading there but get away from there'

I could've said "Youre a dick..here's why" That's an insult.

Don't be a dick is probably the only thing to say in that situation, anyway, according to wiki dick is:
individuals who are considered to be rude, abrasive, inconsiderate, or otherwise contemptible

I could have substituted for any of those words, he was being all of them, dick is slang, not an insult.

If I had a fight with someone else and said "You are rude" or "You are inconsiderate" I wouldnt have been banned, neither here should I have been

I think this thread shows pretty well that some phrases are quite controversial. Some people consider them offending, some don't. Mods take the strict stance, or at least some of them do. But to be honest, if one mod decides to take a stance, it's going to be the stance of all the mods in the eyes of users unless the mods do something about it.

You put this in the wrong forum.

Locking, because I'm strict.
