ok that pretty much confirms that playstation vr will be not cheaper than 499$. i knew that the internetspeculations of an 299$ vr headset were nothing more than wishful thinking.

Except for no. Sony themselves stated that they wanted psvr to be priced similarly to a typical console platform. That falls within $250-$400 if you ask me, especially considering the fact that Sony is keenly aware of what overpricing this product will do at launch.

On one last note, Sony is through and through an electronics hardware company that undoubedtly has better affiliates and hardware vendors to pick from than OR (cheaper too, I'm sure). Couple that with  they aren't afraid to loss lead and with this being the product launh of a potential technological revolution, I think we have a very strong possibility of a price tag that's less than or equal to $350.

The bold part is so important and people seem to forget this.  Sony have been making electronics for decades and know how to hit a target.  No matter what you think of OR, they are still new boys and don't have the experence and contacts that Sony do.

As for OR at $599.  Dead on arival.

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

I don't know if anyone posted this but in Europe the price is even higher ! the price for UK is 499£, about 730$ US and for the rest of Europe it's 599€ that is about 650$ US !!

I mean really it's too damn much z.z

Welp, now I know what I'm never gonna get.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

HTC Vive ftw

Vive has identical specs when it comes to the HMD Plus it has Lighthouse Controller and build in Cam. So I guess it will be 799-899. VR is a Premium game experience and at its beginning. Early adopters Pay an premium. 1000 Euro Bluray Player comes into mind which is why I bought the cheap PS3 Bluray Player.

Yeah, the mass market didn't pay to high prices of the early players, they waited for Sony's cheaper player which was as good as it needed to be for mass market appeal.

I wonder if we can draw any parallels from this....

Sony want to make money by selling art, Nintendo want to make money by selling fun, Microsoft want to make money.

Cost as much as these new phones now. It may not have a hard time selling.

That's a bit too much, isn't it?

Good things don't come cheap. The next step in fapping is upon us guys!!!

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

i'll say this,..

VR doesn't market well. every video i've seen does little to convince me that VR is an experience worth buying. all i have is statements from other people that actually have used VR that i should trust them that the experience is amazing but isn't properly conveyed though conventional media. ..but it's kind of hard to trust someone i don't know, especially because these guys are mostly tech enthusiasts in general.

now add in the fact the list of supported games isn't that long so far and i come to this conclusion: $600 is too much to pay for something based only on hype and promises. i'll wait at least until i can try one in real life because $600 is too much to buy something on a whim.
