Escaping what hell? The majority are coming from turkish camps, and many are adult men who don't bring family! Its BS! Its just a cheap way to immigrate and live off your system.

how many people have living off of welfare as a life dream? It's not that great of a living.

Doing nothing and getting free goodies from the government? Who wouldn't want that. In fact, maybe I should consider it. Just fly to Europe with my Canadian passport, and hide it, and say I'm a desperate "refugee". The system will do the rest. XD Economy is shit here, why not live off your taxpayers while I'm at it? Doesn't seem that kind now... eh?

It's a new situation, some countries are learning on the fly. 

In general though it's important to realize these are human beings and if we are to project ourselves as a modern society, then we need to treat people in a humane and decent way. 

Yes sure, more restrictions may be neccessary to better screen people, and beyond that to better integrate them when they do arrive. 

But becoming a cold group "angry and hostile" xenophobic assholes isn't the answer either. The fact is the overwhelming majority of people immigrating are decent people.

You're welcome to come here ;) But I think you'll be bored living off of "goodies" pretty quickly. You'll be able of afford clothes, food, some used furniture, perhaps a small TV, probably no internet, and you'll be stuck in a small flat that the government chooses for you. And you will be living in a culture that values hard work and be constantly embarassed of how you make your living. And you're gonna be surrounded by people who all have it better than you.

When I'm done getting my free degree in electrical engineering, I bet I'll have a lot more fun. you should do something like that instead :)

To get back on topic. About a year ago my cousins have had some refugee families visit them, and one of the guys was studying computer science but got interrupted by the syrian war. I think he started to resume his studies recently. Perhaps not illustrative of all the refugees, but this happens too.

What about coming here being married but being legally seperated. Have a bunch of kids and get benefits if you  were a single mother.

I seen some cases where people have 2-3 wives like back in the old country, however they cannot be married andcollect benefits as single mother.

Pooling all that together would allow for a decent living on the government money.

Really? I get a place from the government? And a TV, couch, a place to live, and far more than just basic essentials humans need? Wow man, your country really is far to welcoming. No wonder everyone is trying to suck off your taxpayers and not trying to get a job!

You just proved my point. If you think getting all this from the government is "sucky" compared to what they "face" in Syria, they should be bowing their heads to Sweden. In truth, they were fine in Turkey, and now they come to Sweden just to live off Welfare for years then get a job from a hard working Swedish native after he's done sitting around like a lazy ass (maybe).

Haha, so if they don't work they're leechers, and if they do work it's the good old "They took our jerbs!" :)

I don't actually dispute the fact that the welfare model will be under heavier strain now with a larger influx of refugees. But we can have a legitimate debate about that because determining how much is 'too much' for the welfare state is complicated and something that is being talked about outside of the xenophobic discussions.

Also "They took our jobs!" is actually a desirable scenario because more working people means more people with money to spend, thus bigger markets, and more job opportunitities. Just from an economic perspective, taking in refugees is an investment, because in the short term they do cost lots of recources, and there is a point where it becomes too much. Crime and welfare has always been costs associated with immigration, since long before the immigrants were majority muslim. How much time until the investment pays off depends on how well we can integrate people among other things. The yugoslavians, iranians and turks that have come here are already paying off.

Really? Like what have they done to contribute to your country? Have cheaper labour, yeah that's about it. 

Anyway lets just end this discussion. This has been going on for over a week. We'll wait and see what happens, but it won't be me who faces the consequences of what your government is doing.
