Forums - Gaming Discussion - Shenmue 3: No kickstarter rewards for PayPal backers

- a poll was opened asking for whether PayPal backers through the Slacker Backer PayPal campaign should receive Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards or not

- the poll had three options:

- results:

"Yes, please make the Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards available on PayPal.” (4,670 votes)

“No, Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards are for Kickstarter only.”(4,009 votes)

“Either is fine with me.” (6,432 votes)

- apparently due to the number of people expressing against PayPal backers rewards they decided not to give them any:

"Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised.

Thank you all for your participation. We hope everyone will continue to let their voices be heard as we go forward with the project."

Do you think this decision was ok?

Any Shenmue 3 PayPal backers in here?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

So because 25% said no and the other 75% either didn't care, or wanted them...they decided no anyway? This seems almost as bad as western democracy.

Uhh that's a shitty decision. Especially since the yes votes actually outweigh the no votes and the majority doesn't care either way. Roughly 27% of voting backers is clearly the minority here and I feel like they shouldn't be catered to.
WTF is the problem with giving paypal backers the same rewards as kickstarters anyways? Do you really only kickstart the game to get a feeling of superiority out of your name among thousands of others in the credits? I....don't get it....

I wonder if they just wanted to save on physical rewards all along and just interpreted the community vote to their convinience. Otherwise this decision doesn't make any logical sense to me.

Only in 'Murica

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

wow that's a pretty decision to make.

regardless on what got the most votes, those that voted no made up a large portion. Imagine the ramifications it would cause if you pissed them off.

Should I jump off a cliff?
Yes - 99%
No - 1%

Well because there are people concerned with me jumping off a cliff i'm not gonna do it

Wow, that's so petty of the people who voted No. "We want the rewards all to ourselves, nevermind the fact that it'll decrease funding for the game in the long run since nobody is going to back the game via Paypal when they get nothing in return for doing it."

Paypal still get rewards, just not the kickstater ones.

ex: Kickstarter: A physical copy of Shenmue 3 in an exlusive, backer-only case.

Paypal: A physical copy of Shenmue 3 for PS4 in an exlusive case.

Having read the full story for this...wut. Why is this something anybody was allowed to vote on? Would rewarding these PayPal backers the same in any way affect the initial Kickstarter backers? No, no it wouldn't. If something was limited and was fully redeemed, that's already that. If it wasn't fully redeemed, people should have options. Honestly, this flip flop could be considered a type of scamming, and if PayPal backers were angry enough, they could probably get PayPal funds frozen and that backing option completely eliminated.

What a horribly thought out and anti-fan move. This is all ignoring the completely backwards, selfserving logic behind the decision to begin with when the vote in no way aligned with the decision made.

I wonder what the people voting "no" would benefit from this.

Do they feel like that since they donated through Kickstarter, they are more privaleged than those whose donated through PayPal?

I don't get it...

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
