This is the ONLY thing I HATE about Sony home consoles, is theres NO Backwards Comp!!!

How old are you? You know Sony made backwards comp the norm with the ps1,ps2 and ps3 right? Act as if their consoles have never had it.

I personally don't like Sony's recent strategy with PS2 ported games. Yes, they have trophy support, but paying 15$ just to re-buy a PS2 game seems overkill. I would be willing to pay that much for good PS3 games, but this is a step too far in my opinion.

Either way, the PS3's hardware is a big roadblock in getting backwards compatibility, so I'm sure they want it as well, but they can't.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Wow! I admire your passion, OP!

Because they can get money from remastering PS3 games under the excuse that "now the people that didn't have the PS3 can now enjoy it".

/thread.

Isn't that the truth? Why else would you play a game than you already cleared? Only for a better resolution? I'm actually happy they are remastering it so I can play the games I didn't buy the last generation.

Because they love money and give no sh#t about what gamers want

Two factors combined to kill BC: first, Sony removed it because having used a complicated architecture on PS2, emulating it completely required a dedicated chip on PS3, increasing costs (SW emulation working on a wide set, but not all titles, came quite later), then it realised that selling again revamped old titles not only made it save money, but even earn some more. The same happened with PS4 and PS3 BC, and this time probably both factors, costs saving and potential additional earnings were even bigger, as emulating the Cell would have probably required more HW resources even not doing HW BC with a true Cell chip, while very strong PS4 HW sales since the beginning, when its native SW library still have to grow, surely means an even richer market for PS4 editions of old PS3 SW.

Is this seriously a thread? Sony made the ps4 to play next gen games. Get out of your basement and get with the times. If you want to replay old games, get a ps3 - which everyone who is a gamer probably already have.

If Xbone was selling nearly as well as PS4, Microsoft would never have added B/C. It's a poorly executed attempt to sell as many xbones as they can to all of the 360 gamers who haven't upgraded yet. Period.

Once upon a time, PS3 was capable of playing all PS1&2 games. It also cost $600, and it became a joke.

Later on, they removed the BC for PS2 and cut $100 off the price. This was when the PS3 states its comeback.

They were like.. "PS3 had games..?" and then dropped BC all together.
