Forums - PC Discussion - Valve officially talks about the Steam Winter Sale account fiasco.

Both Sony and EA have much more in common with their past selves than Valve does. Valve first started as game developers (not retailers) and Steam was initially a client meant to only patch their own games but what I see is a betrayer to their own roots ... (Valve changed alright and not for the better I think.)

And Sony is a betrayer to its own roots by not focussing on transistor radios anymore. Nintendo is a betrayer to its own roots by not focussing on hanafuda playing cards anymore. Microsoft is a betrayer to its own roots by not focussing on basic interpreters anymore.

No you think they suck due to your own perception while millions don't think they suck and non deservedly so. Sony/MS/Nintendo aren't any different either and yet I don't see you ripping them on a daily basis or at every corner, you claim they have their time but it seems you have all the time in the world for Valve =P.

You must tell me of the hundreds of games your purchased on all those other clients sometime, I wonder who your most used client would be because that will dictate who you think is more worth your time.

Nah not really, I see EA still fucking up every now and then, their customer service is good, better than Valve's currently but Origin isn't being used more than Steam, doesn't support the modding scene, doesn't sell other games other than ones EA owns or publishes along with generally not being seen as the go to store/company on PC, that's how out of touch EA still is. I still remember the fuck up that is Sim city that's still borked, Sims 4 not doing or faring any better than 1-3, C&C still being dead after 5 years along with a massive botched attempt at merging two studios together, holding a closed beta for Generals 2 and then suddenly scrapping it all to dust, 3 years of work and two studios gone down the drain with an IP that's still dead, yes that's EA totally being in touch with their old times alright.

Valve made their own store as well as their own games just like how EA made and pubbed their own games and then their own store, same with Blizzard, Ubisoft, bethesda, anyone out there who brings a new software store client to the table.

I don't know the betrayal you speak of but you sound like you've harboured bitter hate for a Valve for a very long time and not the healthy kind, I suggest letting such hate go (you do hate no matter how you try to spin it so lets not dance back and forth a million times like the last thread).

Sooner or later the others will get called out down the line but for now Valve needs to face the heat ...

Game developers are not immune to making duds but at least it's better than Valve's fear of making new games. I hope Ubisoft and the others makes their own franchises exclusive to their own online stores just undermine Steam's monopoly on single player focused AAA games on PC even further. Then we'll know who'll be laughing in the end ...

Valve doesn't make new games anymore compared to the publishers you just listed ...

Fortunately for Sony at least they still make communications devices today ...

Nintendo still makes those Hanafuda cards ...

As for Microsoft, they still make compilers which are tools similar to interpreters ...

this was my account a few months back. The emails was in the hundredsssss

There is a lot of stuff wrong with valve/stream. their customer service is whack too.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

And thanks to Steam Guard (two-factor-authentification) the hostile takeover of your Steam account didn't work. I wish that the console accounts also would support 2FA.

Valve faced the ehat though, it's faced the heat for it;s customer service for quite a while, faced the ehat of what happened last week and it faces the heat every day on the Steam forums. I think you just want them to face the ehat all the time to justify your emotions, especially with the constant ...

Valve msakes games in their own time, it;s almost like you don't even regard or know the "valve time" pun, they do things in their own time and because they aren't a Sony or MS they aren't constantly being pushed to crapping out bad ideas a good chunk of the time.

EA already does that in terms of exclusivity, same with Origin when you count the older more retro titles, Blizzard as well. I think you really do have some seething hatred for Valve though by the way you write and wish to undermine them at every turn, no doubt about that.

Vlave brought Dota 2 back in 2013, a whole two years ago, I;m sorry they aren't shitting out game after game the way you think game development works.

Also a couple months back even without my 2 step I never got emails like that at all, same with my mates.

I work in IT and things like this happen all the time. You won't see it often because usually there are a lot of safeguards in place but it happens and is especially easy to happen in rushed scenarios like this.

The fault is still on them though and an honest mistake does not safe you from responsibility.

I still laugh at anybody who believes this could've been prevented with more money.

QFT, I work at a software solutions company and ya this sorta happens a lot. Not just to us (thankfully) but any tech company. Some issues are just a bit more public than others.

If things like this happen all the time at your company your IT personnel are fucking garbage. My goodness, if this happened at my company with any semblance of regularity we'd be hit with more fines than could be sustained. The integrity of information like this is of utmost importance.

It happens everywhere, of course not in this scale and most of the time without other people noticing it, but mistakes happen at EVERY IT company. Doesn't matter if they're Valve, Google or Microsoft. The IT personal is only human and current IT networks are too complex for any human to grasp completely in its entirety.

The point is, things like this are hardly preventable and especially not by throwing money at it.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Maybe if Valve actually made games anymore, this wouldn't have happened.
