Forums - Movies & TV - The Force Awakens while I dozed off. Yes, it was mediocre. *SPOILERS*

After seeing your views this past year, do you like anything people like? Or are you one of those that only like things that people hate like Movie 43.

I don't see why I should like a bad or average movie just because it is popular. I'm sure even the SW fanboys must agree that the movie has a lot of flaws.

I won't judge it until the trilogy is done. It felt like first third of a story. I love Empire, but watching it stand alone would be an odd experience. I do hope they bring more new and interesting ideas to the universe of Star Wars.

If a movie cannot stand on its own as a good movie, then it's simply not a good movie.

Not agreeing with you or disagreeing. Just saying there's already an "I hate Star Wars episode VII" thread. Come join us! The dark side is losing and could use your help.

This. There's really no point in this thread at all. Thinking about discussing with the other mods if Star Wars threads need to be monitored like NX threads. There's no need for a thread for everyone's emotion toward the movie. "I loved TFA!" "I hated TFA!" "I didn't feel anything toward TFA!"... just might need to start an official TFA thread..

Well, I loved it. Speaking in general, It has the best acting, cinematography and overall best feeling of "real" enviroments that a Star Wars movie ever had. Ever. Add to the mix a great use of nostalgia (which in a 40 year old franchise with so many pasionate fans is just mandatory), some new things, some really "brave" decisions made by the director/writer, and a soundtrack that keeps up with the franchise standards... and there we have it. As a movie, The Force Awakens is by far the best Star Wars movie ever built.

Obviosuly is not my favourite, because it lacks context, it lacks to get in love with the characters at the same level I did with the ones in the original trilogy after 3 movies. Also, Kylo Ren is a bitch and Rey is maybe too talented. But as I said, it lacks context. We still have two movies left. Kylo Ren is just a child that has much to learn, and I'm certain he will in the future. As for Rey, all her talent may turn against her in the future. We can only speculate...

OP is right about the villain being a big pussy and it really makes me sad. I don't feel the rebels are at a disadvantage at all. The First Order is made to look like a bunch of incompetent hacks. Can't even defend a giant planet from a bunch of freaking x-wings.

This is a star wars movie for kids of a new generation. Not the adults who grew up with the original trilogy. If you accept this you might find the rest of the movies more enjoyable.

Whatever people say, it is miles, miles away from being as bad as the prequels. That alone gives me enough faith in the franchise and makes me look forward to the next episodes. If you disliked this movie, then maybe you should stop watching SW because I doubt it can get much better than The Force Awakens from here on.

Rey being that strong pissed me a little off. I thought a little bit about it and the only explanation I could come up with was, that she is already trained as a Jedi. Maybe Kylo Ren killed all the other Jedi's Skywalker trained, but couldn't kill Rey because they are related and he just wiped her memory.

Not before my "BB-8 is just the right amount of shiny" thread.

Like JW before it, they know how to snag viewers. Whether a movie is good or not. You just need Harrison saying a great one liner in the trailer and.....2 billion sold!

except Jurassic World was garbage and the new Star Wars is not a bad film at all, its actually quite good when objectively looked at. there is fairly decent acting, a somewhat coherent plot, and no terribly stupid CGI characters like Jar Jar

Some people say it's amazing
Some people say it's good

Some people say it's bad
Some people say it's really bad
