FragileSurface said: What are the pros? It's been out for two years and the UI is demonstrably slower than the Xbox 360 UI. How is this even possible? That alone was enough to stun me after choosing my 360 over my One the other day. The 360 controller is much more sturdy and doesn't feel like it's made from cheap plastic like its successor. How is this possible? This particular issue boils down to personal preference but my two favorite multiplayer experiences on the 360 (Rock Band and Magic) are watered down versions of their former selves. With the Xbox One I get non-gaming services shoved in my face. I had to look up online how to access my game library. Accessing your gaming library on a game console should be so crystal clear it shouldn't even need a tutorial. Oh, and it's ugly. I mean really really REALLY ugly. |
I agree with most of this. It's sluggish and still somewhat buggy. I shouldn't have to wait 3 seconds every time I want to snap out of a game.
Something inside my X1 controller is already broken. It still works but the right trigger feels funny. I have had 2 360 controllers and have had no issues ever.
I hate the UI and the console itself is indeed ugly and scratches easily on the glossy bits.
Also:
Many games can't even run at the native resolution of my TV from 2008 (1080p).
Certain games bog the system down to the point where I need to do a hard reset (black ops 3 being the worst offender).
I have to pay to play the thing online. This is and always will be a con on any system.
Its games just aren't as much fun as the exclusives PC or Wii U (I do like the MCC though) and unless a game is really buggy on PC there is no need for me to buy a multiplat on Xbox One.
It takes ages to boot up from a hard reset and as stated before this is a common occurrence.
Games need to be installed to play (it seriously felt next gen when I put a new game in my 360 and it just played), but the disc still needs to be in the machine.
500GB standard HDD makes the above point even more painful as games require up to 60GB to install.
Kinect sucks. It's been in a drawer collecting dust for almost 2 years now. Maybe it's improved though, I'll check when I get home.
None of my friends have one which is probably the result of many of the above points which means I can only play Wii U and PC games with friends online.
Many games run at 30fps which would benefit from 60fps. As far as I can tell this is due to the underwhelming CPU.
Apart from that stuff it's pretty good though.
