Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One: Where Are The Cons?

Well weaker hardware and lack of Japanese games or bunch of indies are a con a guess even though I don't care about those. In my country the biggest con is that it's not Playstation.. casual gamers etc won't even consider X1 and some of them don't even know what it is :S Most of my friends are Xbox gamers, but couple of them bought PS4 because "it's Playstation and more powerful" and now they're complaining they can't join the fun with us X1 gamers playing SW: Battlefront, Fifa, Gears, NHL an so on..

It has very few pros where it matters for competing ...

What are the pros? It's been out for two years and the UI is demonstrably slower than the Xbox 360 UI. How is this even possible? That alone was enough to stun me after choosing my 360 over my One the other day. The 360 controller is much more sturdy and doesn't feel like it's made from cheap plastic like its successor. How is this possible?

This particular issue boils down to personal preference but my two favorite multiplayer experiences on the 360 (Rock Band and Magic) are watered down versions of their former selves.

With the Xbox One I get non-gaming services shoved in my face. I had to look up online how to access my game library. Accessing your gaming library on a game console should be so crystal clear it shouldn't even need a tutorial.

Oh, and it's ugly. I mean really really REALLY ugly.

I agree with most of this. It's sluggish and still somewhat buggy. I shouldn't have to wait 3 seconds every time I want to snap out of a game.

Something inside my X1 controller is already broken. It still works but the right trigger feels funny. I have had 2 360 controllers and have had no issues ever.

I hate the UI and the console itself is indeed ugly and scratches easily on the glossy bits.

Also:

Many games can't even run at the native resolution of my TV from 2008 (1080p).

Certain games bog the system down to the point where I need to do a hard reset (black ops 3 being the worst offender).

I have to pay to play the thing online. This is and always will be a con on any system.

Its games just aren't as much fun as the exclusives PC or Wii U (I do like the MCC though) and unless a game is really buggy on PC there is no need for me to buy a multiplat on Xbox One.

It takes ages to boot up from a hard reset and as stated before this is a common occurrence.

Games need to be installed to play (it seriously felt next gen when I put a new game in my 360 and it just played), but the disc still needs to be in the machine.

500GB standard HDD makes the above point even more painful as games require up to 60GB to install.

Kinect sucks. It's been in a drawer collecting dust for almost 2 years now. Maybe it's improved though, I'll check when I get home.

None of my friends have one which is probably the result of many of the above points which means I can only play Wii U and PC games with friends online.

Many games run at 30fps which would benefit from 60fps. As far as I can tell this is due to the underwhelming CPU.

Apart from that stuff it's pretty good though.

The cons?

- Multiplats are weaker, run less stable fps, graphically weaker than PS4 often.
- More expensive online services.
- *Very weak lineup of japanese games, and rpgs (and in general all the PS4 exclusives).

*there are so many great games comeing to the PS4, in 2016.
Its a slaughter, and honestly games => why you want a console.

$10 isn't a huge difference games with gold has been a lot better then what has been on PS Plus recently.  Plus a gold membership offers better discounts and deals then a PS Plus membership does.

Not when the AAA games Gold members get are usually games PS Plus subs already had months prior.  And Sony is having flash sales almost every week, with further discounts for Plus members, so not really accurate, either.

@ OP

Is this MS propaganda?  Any system has flaws, even the PS4.  The problem with XBO is it has greater flaws than the PS4, which helps make the PS4 the majority purchase.

The main one is probably weaker HW that launched at a more expensive price, and is now the same price as the more powerful PS4.  That weaker HW usually ends up causing games to have a lower resolution and/or framerate.  The PS4 also has a larger library, which will only get larger compared to the XBO, as some smaller/mid-sized devs will choose to focus on the PS4.  MS are milking its largest IPs, causing a dip in not only quality, but also sales.  And because of a lack of sales, MS is going to start investing in it less and less as the years go on, which means we'll probably see a repeat of the exclusives barren last couple years of the 360 for the XBO in 2017-2018.

So given all that it invalides your point since I don't really play 3rd party games on the PS3 and the only ones from 2015 I will play is Tales of Zesteria and Yakuza 5 (even though in my book its a 2012 game).

On top of all that I totally forgot about Rare replay if you count all the games included in that colection the PS3 doesn't even come close even though only about half of the games in the collection are worth playing for a long time unless you are super nostalgic.

In my book they're 1983 to 2008 games, not 2015, so they don't count in your logic  ~.^

Just to point out the difference in your considerations, I don't want to participate in the debate about exclusivity.

Probably mostly due to the fact that I played a 360 and unlocked achievments long before I played my first PS3 games and earned my first throphy.  Also achievements where better integrated into the 360 since every game execpt for indies had them since the launch of the console.  On the PS3 there are a lot of early games that didn't have trophies and almost none of them got patched for them later even though it would have been super easy especially for third party games since they usually have the same achievements and trophies.  Plus that you have to sync up your throphies is a minor incovience but as far as I know you no longer have to do that on the PS4.

I see.. on mine PS4 I have to sync new trophies (takes like 10seconds) but it won't be that painfull 10 minutes everyime I got to trophies on PS3.

So it still has throphy syncing then but as long as its faster then on the PS3 its not a big problem.

PS3 is a mess on this front. I usually kept trophies offline and just synched when I wanted to update to the site.

I see post like this and worse on this site everyday, praising the ps4 and usually trashing Xbox, telling how the line up of one is going to puke shit on the lineup of the other, and how ps4 is the better console with the better line up, and nobody is allowed to think otherwise. Is funny how this thread is being called "propaganda" and "flamebait".

Honestly, the topic is dull and naive written, maybe on purpose, but praising the Xbox (even ignoring or minimizing the flaws) is not a flamebait.

Care to give exemples?
