Do you guys want to know just how damn impressive Splatoon's sales are in Japan? According to a GAF user, Splatoon is the first new IP on a home console to pass 1 million sales ( plus digital of course) since Wii Sports in 2006. It's also doing better than the original Resident Evil, Pokemon Red/Green and the first Yokai Watch after 29 weeks ( 966k- without digital vs 837k vs 645k vs 373k). Nintendo has certainly struck gold with this game.

Holy Fuck!!!! Splatoon has a bright future!!!!

Indeed. The possibilities are simply endless for this IP!

I just realized something. The 3DS is not only getting close to passing the 20 million mark in Japan, it's close to passing the PSP in lifetime sales there as well. The 3DS sold a total of 144,115 units for Week 50 according to MC. That puts its lifetime tally at 19,911,076. As of the last week of 2014, MC had the PSP at 20,166,133 units. That puts the 3DS only 255,057 units behind the PSP. So, not only will the 3DS pass the 20 million mark by the end of the current week (Week 51), it will likely pass the PSP within the next 4 weeks.

Also Wii U has chance to reach 3m LT at end of year, because we have one more whole week and 4 days last week in this year. Wii U with this weak is at 2.87m.

nice sales if we cna get similar sales or over 50k for wiu next week It will be great!

Switch!!!

It's official! Minecraft is the best selling retail game ever on PS Vita in Japan!!!
Minecraft is a beast, it could reach 1M in Japan digital + retail next year!!!

Hardware is looking amazing for every 8th generation console (excluding Xbox One)!
Playstation Vita and Playstation 4 have so much better holidays than last year, PS Vita even manages to outsell PS4 this week though PS4 had a Fallout bundle. Minecraft is doing a great job with boosting PS Vita hardware!!!

Only sad thing this week is that Exist Archive flopped...
Game looked really nice, I wanted it to do better. :/

Really nice week for Nintendo. The WiiU did better than I thought it would. Splatoon/Mario Maker combination really proved to be the magic recepie to attract new audiences.
By all accounts #FE will probably flop, but the fact that both Splatoon and Mario Maker bundles are hard to get might at least help the bundle some. Next week will be interesting.

Vita is also doing well, so that's nice! I expacted Ps4 a bit higher, with Fallout 4 though.

Yay, superior tracker. And heh, Vita beating PS4 on both Media Create and Dengeki. Don't worry Sony, keep pouring all your Japanese resources into PS4, it's for the best /s

Otherwise, MeiQ did really poorly for Compile Heart. It won't be a disaster for them, but I wonder what caused it to sell so low, especially since they've had success after success on Vita. Probably hurts that it's yet another gridder.

And shit, Seraph of the End didn't even chart!

Ironic, isn't it, given how everybody was saying that the Wii U had an empty holiday lineup this year.  The lack of a price cut even had me thinking that the Wii U would for sure be down this year.

It just goes to show that once a console has amassed a sufficient back-catalog of amazing games it can start to carry itself to a degree.

It certainly is, although it should never have gotten to that point really.  I can understand the argument for holiday lineup but really, if you look at the top software for this week, it really doesn't matter how close to the holidays you release your games - moreso just that the games that are releasing are appealing software for gift-giving.

So looking through the chart, we've got Youkai Watch (released in July); Splatoon (released in May); SMM (released in September); Animal Crossing (released in July); Rhythm Heaven (released in June) and Minecraft (released in March).  Those are the games propping up the chart among new releases - but none of them released close to the holidays.

Heck, Vita beat PS4 this week, despite one of them having a new game which sold 123k and one of them having a new game that sold 28k.  But Minecraft is doing enough holiday-heavy-lifting for Vita that it could trump the PS4.

Superior tracker says the vita is getting stronger not weaker! It will never die :) going to be over a million YTD who would have thought! Many doubted 1 Sony console would break a million this year nevermind 2!

And yes congrats minecraft. You are #1 both digital and retail on vita. Next stop 1 million sales :)

Whos buying all those copies of Splatoon? Im sure some rich guy just keeps buying every copy 😜

So I believe we won't get week 52 numbers Intill Jan (day before week 53 suppose to get leaked!)
